Carabus (Procrustes) coriaceus rugifer (Kraatz 1877)Body length (female) 42 mm.
It differs from the nominative: It has a more pronounced elite grain and a greater metallic luster.
Female - Lviv region. Skolevsky district, near the village of Grebeniv. hr. Zelemyanka. h-1000 m. July 2004
Male - Lviv region. Stryisky district of the village of Pyatnychany. August 2005

Carabus (Pachystus) glabratus extensus Kraatz 1885 = gibbosus Heyden 1866
Used to be in the subgenus Oreocarabus
Body length 30 mm. Lviv region Stryi district, Pyatnychany district, Bilchevsky forest –. June-July 2007
It differs from the nominative by the strong gloss of the elitr . As if covered with varnish.
Carabus (Oreocarabus) hortensis Linnaeus 1758
Body length 28 mm
Lviv region.Zhovkovsky district (Maloe Polesie), in traps, September 2005.
All the above-mentioned species (with subspecies) are widespread in the European part and common.

Here, I asked. Nothing. I.e. at all. The subspecies was described by Kraatz from specimens from Romania. To understand what he thought there, you need to raise the original description. By the way, Kraatz generally had a high propensity for describing subspecies that were not much different from the nominative. And he was very adventurous in this business. In some Carabuses from the Far East, he even managed to describe sometimes more than 30 almost indistinguishable subspecies. And he bequeathed to bury himself in his favorite entomological cabinet along with a collection of his favorite Carabuses. Which was done. To this day, his ashes rest in this cabinet along with his collection in a museum in Germany. That's how you should love beetles!
