There are several species on the territory of the former USSR. Willingly fly to the light.
In the middle zone, Apoda limacodes is most well-known at the
top - M. O., Odintsovo district, Chigasovo, 15.07.2007.
at the bottom - the same place, date-07.07.2006.

Also in the middle zone there is a very inconspicuous butterfly Heterogenea asella. I don't have my own material or photos, but you can see it on the site www.leps.it

This is followed by Far Eastern species.
Austrapoda dentata

The family got its name because of the peculiar appearance of the caterpillars.
However, many of them are quite bizarre. Many photos of limacodid caterpillars on the website jpmoth.org

Well, this is Phrixolepia sericea, small but lovely.

There are several other tropical species. I'll define it and post it.

Yes, and their cocoons are also cool. On sita jpmoth.org a cocoon of Monema flavescens is depicted.

I would like to add three more views from the Far East to the slug's gallery:
L. consocia is most likely the largest of the Russian fauna, and probably the most "tropical" in its pattern.
L. hilarata (also known as sinica) is very similar to the L. hilarula already presented by Morozzz. The simplest difference is the color of the rear fenders.

L. consocia - in June, the other 2 species - in July. Khasansky district.

Thank you to Zhuk'ku for the link to the Journal "Far Eastern entomologist".

From there, Chistyakov's article "Revision of the Limacodidae of Dvostok". It's 1995, but still. Maybe something else has been found since then (for example, the Austrapoda hepatica indicated by MOROZZZ, which is not on this list), but I think the basic list is present.

Several clarifications were made in connection with the recent revision of the Russian fauna of this family (Solov'ev A.V., 2008).

Austrapoda hepatica
Primorsky Krai, Khasansky district, Andreevka, 20-28. 07. 2006.

This is Neothosea suigensis. The real Austrapoda hepatica it looks like this.

I don't know about you, but I liked this view the most.
Parasa sinica
The shine on the wings is not from fat. They have such scales.
Primorsky Krai, Khasansky district, Andreevka, 20-28. 07. 2006.

This is Parasa hilarula. It is distinguished by dark rear wings.

I would like to add three more species from the Far East to the gallery of slugs:
[...]
L. hilarata is very similar to the L. sinica already presented by Morozzz. The simplest difference is the color of the rear fenders.

This is Parasa sinica (=hilarata). Light rear fenders.
Views from the last quoted post - also from Andreevka?

Thanks!
I fixed my own

19.03.2009 21:49, Grigory Grigoryev

But I don't agree:
I looked at: Dubatolov's site-Novosibirsk collection, Japanese definition, Chistyakov's articles (Vladivostok) and the Watural history Musem site - The Global Lepidoptera Names Index (link below, only BBB should be replaced with WWW)

http://ВВВ.nhm.ac.uk/jdsml/research-curation/research/projects/lepindex/list.dsml?searchPageURL=index.dsml&UserID=&UserName=&index=&recLimit=30&sort=SCIENTIFIC_NAME_on_card&SCIENTIFIC_NAME_on_cardqtype=starts+with&SCIENTIFIC_NAME_on_card=sinica

In Appendix 3, page: the taxa sinica, hilarata, and hilarula
are still synonyms (dark wings), and hilarata is separate. view (light wings)

But I don't agree:
I looked at: Dubatolov's website-the Novosibirsk collection, Japanese opredelitnl, Chistyakov's articles (Vladivostok) and the Watural history Musem website - The Global Lepidoptera Names Index
[...
after all, sinica and hilarula are synonyms (dark wings), and hilarata is dep. view (light wings)

Well, actually this is what Solovyov found out during the revision process, having studied the standard material: that the name "Parasa sinica" has been used incorrectly so far: it shows the lectotype (highlighted by him in the original series), it has light wings.

And here is Heterogenea asella from the Moscow region. Caught in Odintsovo district, near the village of Pestovo, 26.06.2010 By the way, does anyone know anything about the discovery of Parasa sinica (according to the Sineva catalog, in region 4 (European north-west)) Is this a delivery service? It is unlikely to be a typo, because on lepidoptera.pl it is also marked.
