After NG, I'll look at the mustache. in general, I assumed that salicicola because all the posted photos were caught at the same time, together during the day they sat on wild onions or garlic in one place with a radius of 10 meters. And with spots there were like in a photo in nature-a typical salicicola, so I signed everyone as "salicicola".

It is a special subfamily in the Cossidae Cossulinae. Recently, P. Gentili's excellent work on Costa Rica was published in the Zoological Journal of Linnev Island. I had one for reviews. Gentili proves that the group belongs to the Cossids, which they tried to deduce from there. By the way, Patricia Gentili described one cool genus in cossidae - Andesia, which turned out to be closer to the hepialids and a separate family Andesinidae was allocated, so it seems... Oh, how many other wild groups there are in the tropics. Where every step is terra incognita.

By the way, on "Fauna Europaea" now the taxonomy lepidoptera it is given in a modern form - and the cossides are given just "according to Yakovlev".
With which I sincerely congratulate Roman smile.gif beer.gif

On April 13, I took a caterpillar of odorous Woodworm, put it in a jar with cotton wool, the caterpillar buried itself in cotton wool, when there was a hurricane, I took the jar out on the balcony, 3 days later (today) I found a new butterfly.

31.05.2010 20:09, Konung

Today I discovered that the terebra caterpillar, pictured just above, has turned into a very mobile pupa, easily moving with the help of hooks in the dorsal part!

A discussion (3-4 short articles) on the topic of Cossidae and the unpublished monographs of Kondratiev and Kozhenchikov (as well as the material arranged and determined by these specialists in various museums around the world), later used by Yakovlev, I propose to conduct with the permission of Kondratiev and Ulf Eitschbergera, who repeatedly suggested that the latter publish articles in Atalanta (Marktleuthen).
Of course, this is also suggested to Mr. R. V. Yakovlev, who may explain why the revision of the taxa of the species Cossus cossus did not investigate the preserved types of at least 6 taxa, while the author in the same “monograph” describes 4 new subspecies from different parts of the world. Palearctic History Yakovlev R. V., 2009. Systematic review of Goat Moth – Cossus cossus (Linnaeus, 1758) (Lepidoptera, Cossidae). — Amurskii Zoologicheskii Zhurnal, 1(1): 58–71; Pl. X–XI. [In Russian]. {Translated of the Title in the Russian original edition is given as "Amurian zoological journal"}, and also why in Yakovlev's works there are no cladograms or defining keys for either the species or even the generic group Cossidae, as is customary for other specialists working on Cossoidea? (see, for example,
1. Hua B. et al., 1990. The cossid fauna of China. (Lepidoptera: Cossidae). — In: Ilustritaj Cinaj Insekt-Faunoj, II. Tianze Chubanshe, Yangling : 1-139 [in text: Pl. I-VII (on pp.[135], [137], [139], [141], [143],[145], [147])]. [In Cinese]. {Transliteration of the Chinese title of the original edition, is given as "Zhongguo kuncong tuzhi: II. Tianze Eldonejo, Yangling."}.

By the way, when I was last in Berlin, at the Humboldt University Zoo Museum, Mr. May actively asked me if I knew anything about Mr. Kondratiev. And, judging by the intonation, he was very dissatisfied with the fact that no news of the types taken had been received from the specified gentleman for many years. Not good...
