Sign it, or who wants to guess? wink.gif

What about melandriids and other tenebrioids?

Well, I tried to guess this (I don't know the beetle), but I made the topic for families whose representatives come across in a small number of species. Oh, what kind of bug is that? confused.gif

I will justify myself a little smile.gif: I have only one Melandrida, and not all beetles belong to Tenebrionoidea. Don't judge me harshly.

In the title post of the topic at number 4, I already presented the thyroid gland Ostoma ferrugineum (Linnaeus, 1758). And now I think to put an end to the Peltidae of the Moscow region.
We have the largest thyroid gland:
Peltis (=Zimioma) grossa (Linnaeus, 1758)
30.05.2012 Moscow region, Orekhovo-Zuyevsky district, near the Nerskaya Leg station. Feoktistov (isolated).
P.S. By the way: no one knows if we have any other Peltidae species?

In the Tver region (near the border with Moscow), he caught Grynocharis oblonga (Linnaeus, 1758) (on logs of an old house) and Thymalus sp. (? subtilis (Reitter, 1889) (on some mushrooms on aspen).

I only caught one copy. on the first day of my arrival at the field practice, and no matter how much I didn't pick pines for two weeks afterwards, I didn't see any more of them frown.gif

the story of catching this micro - bike beetle smile.gif
we arrived for an early spring field practice. it was supposed to live in the houses left over from the abandoned cordon. on the territory of the cordon there was a jaeger's house, a bathhouse on the river bank and a fresh wooden toilet for two points/places (marked with the letters eM and Jo on the plan). while the female part was engaged in cleaning houses, the male part was preoccupied with harvesting firewood. a dry pine tree on the edge of the forest, 40-50 cm in diameter and 8 meters high, instantly attracted attention. our woodcutters did not calculate the trajectory of the fall and when the pine tree trembled, it became clear to everyone that now our comfortable WC will be covered with xxxx pine shorter. at the heart-rending screams of the loggers, all the free forces came running for a fine manual adjustmentsmile.gif, we rested on a pine tree and began to take it in the desired direction. at that moment, a large piece of bark fell off from the trunk and I saw IT on the exposed area! I immediately grabbed the bug! the further fate of the falling tree and its trajectory were already indifferent to me shuffle.gif

I've been here before, but this is my first beetle, collected in 2013.
Endomychus coccineus Linnaeus, 1758
It occurs only occasionally in my area, but regularly under the bark and on mushrooms.
The specimen was found today (26.04.2013) on a dried-up, miraculously preserved last year's openka, on a birch stump. Here: M. O., Balashikha district, okr. der. Poltevo.

A representative of the most sparsely distributed (2 species in the fauna of the Russian Federation) family Artematopidae. As far as I understand, they used to belong to the lobes (Dascillidae), and now they have been separated into a separate family, which has been brought closer to the nutcrackers.

The Far Eastern Macropogon pubescens Motsch is found on the territory of the Russian Federation. ( http://www.zin.ru/animalia/coleoptera/rus/macpubkm.htm ) and the East Siberian Macropogon sibiricus Motsch. I did not find any definitive keys or images on the sibiricus web, but I believe that the specimen caught in the Altai Mountains must most likely belong to this particular species. Based on the length of the antennae (on which the last segment is still broken off), I think that this is a male.

The dog is also a living creature... True, due to its restlessness, it scurries back and forth, instead of slowly going the optimal route. So I collapsed from fatigue... Yes, and we went quite far and high...
By the way, for Mukhtar this is one of the first exits to the forest. Last time I visited, he was still a puppy... I just started taking it with me on this trip. At the first exit, I thought that he would run away - no, I survived... The next day, as soon as he came out with a backpack , he had a lot of joy, started running around, jumping... in general, dogs also love to climb forests...
