Last summer there were unusually many swallowtails. In two weeks of summer, I took more than a hundred pictures. Yes, and photographed the caterpillar.

Who found swallowtail caterpillars on hogweed - on which particular hogweed, point and time. Do you have any photos???

I am writing an article on the swallowtail-if you have information about C. R. G. from the territory of the Middle Volga region, I will be grateful. I still have 7 types of umbrella plants.
Yes, we also need forage plants for butterflies.

In the Ivanovo region, I often find swallowtail caterpillars on snyti and dudnik.

thank you! Photos of plants are highly desirable. Most often, my caterpillars are located on the poreznikova stingray.

Angelica - which one? On snyti it is necessary to assume the first generation?

In the Ulyanovsk region, it is most often observed on dill, less often-on two-year-old parsley, which with inflorescences, in addition, are collected in the wild on Heracleum*, Pimpinella titanophila* and Silaum silaus*. Just out of interest - in the Astrakhan region, the caterpillars are mainly on compound-flowered Artemisia arenaria* and A. chernjaevi* (we need to clarify the spelling of the second species), but this is not surprising, because these 2 species have essential oils that smell exactly like umbrella ones.

Artemisia tschernieviana Bess. (= A. arenaria DC.) is also found in the sands of Dagestan.
In the mountains I found caterpillars on raspberries.

In Moscow, I collected a lot of swallowtail eggs on the Sosnovsky hogweed. But I didn't see any bigger caterpillars. And I did not try to feed them with it, I grew them only on parsnips, snyti or on Wednesday.

Male and female - Russia, Moscow region, Serpukhov district
I happened to be at the end of July in 2011 in the vicinity of the PTZ. At this time, there was a mass flight of the freshest swallowtails. They were circling everywhere, sitting in the grass... I remember this day forever.
P.S. I took only one pair.

Here is a completely incomprehensible story - some entomologists claim that in their region swallowtail caterpillars can live on hogweed! We have two types of them and how many times I haven't seen them in nature - there are no swallowtail caterpillars on them!!? And judging by how much hogweed we have growing in some places... then we should have swallowtails like flies...

Just Oleg-that we have more and more pupae... The hour is uneven, because of his reports, families will begin to break up. This is it for us for the Red Book...
