At least in the individuals that I have collected from those places, the pronotum and elytra are in single (and not grouped in spots) scales, so it's probably still laniarius. Probably, the light fell so low in the photo that the leatherhead looks more colorful than it really is...

I mean one thing - I write another! I'm talking about sibiricus!!! Where did I suddenly get lardarius from?

10.12.2012 16:09, evk

And, by the way, in Dosang and in general in the Trans-Volga region of the Astrakhan region, Dermestes sibiricus is very often found together with frischi. In Volgogradskaya we find up to the latitude of Volgograd, collected on Elton. They differ poorly from the top, but confidently from the bottom.

sensu stricto - "in the narrow sense", "strictly speaking" in this case means that this species (picturatus) belongs to the subgenus Anthrenus.

and what does that mean?

09.01.2013 18:53, Mantispid

and what does that mean?

well, for example, under Baris (s. l.) - we mean all species of the genus Baris that were previously included in it, and then were separated into separate genera. I.e., Baris in a broad sense, with the inclusion of Melanobaris, Dendrobaris, etc.
