How does the caterpillar construct such a structure? It turns out that she weaves a sticky cocoon on the ground, rolls it in the sand, then drags it to a tree (1.90 m) and attaches it there. Then it climbs into the cocoon, becomes clogged and pupates? Miracles!

No, the cover grows together with the caterpillar, it builds it gradually, attaching earth particles, pebbles, plant remains, there are several families of them, you probably have a pouch.

Yes, of course, the bag lady. A purely for Ilya information:
it was lucky that it was a male,
but if it was a female, it would just be a bag of eggs, practically without a head, without legs and, yes, without wings. There are also such miracles.

So endemics eat beans? I don't even know how to react to this - I want beans and feel sorry for beetles...

And yet, I found pictures of Madagasocycnelus humeralis. They differ from my beetles in the color of their thighs. In the photo below, they are black, and in mine they are yellow.

Well, a very big beast!

I flew near the lantern on the terrace, turned off the lantern-opened the door and turned on the light in the room. Knocked up. The same makar lured to the kitchen. I sat down, calmed down. I don't touch it yet - what if it lays eggs?

In this position, the wingspan is at least 6 cm.

About beetles: no, I don't collect beetles. For the simple reason that I don't know how to kill. I figured out the butterflies, a plastic jar+freezer - 5 minutes and everything is ready. I tried the same thing with beetles, but they are warped beyond recognition.

Saturnia Bunaea flew into the warehouse last night. And all because our mango tree has a whole brood of them. However, it has already partially moved to me in a plastic container and will soon begin to pupate.

2. Caterpillars on mango. High - four meters at least, how to get it? The neighborhood kids put up a price of 1000 ariari for a caterpillar. We decided that the children are greyhounds and began to show their own ingenuity!

It's interesting that they surprise you every time!

It is written:
"Before pupation, a thick cocoon is woven. This property is used by humans who cultivate a number of species (Chinese and Japanese peacock eyes) to produce silk.". Actually, my "capital" Saturnia did just that.
These don't.

Let me remind you how it was. I put them in a container like this:
user posted image

For several days, the caterpillars ate mango leaves from the heart - I didn't have time to add new ones. And one morning I found EVERYONE in this state:
user posted image

Well, that's it, I think, pi*dec. Some unknown parasites have destroyed all my peacock eyes! But I decided not to throw it away, wait until it stinks.

It turned out not in vain - after 4 days it started.
user posted image

Now I have 4 pupae and one has not yet come out of the old skin.

Most likely, this spider is Heteropoda venatoria (Sparassidae), which is widespread in the tropics in coastal cities almost all over the world, or another large heteropod from the local fauna. Body length up to 30mm, limb span up to 15cm. They do not build nets, but actively hunt their victims, mostly at night and at dusk, sometimes during the day. They eat everything they can catch, from small invertebrates to small bats. Males during courtship can produce an infrasound that is heard at the limit of human hearing as a specific buzzing (this behavior is called "buzzing"). Females do not wear a cocoon on their bodies. They are not considered particularly poisonous and dangerous to humans, but you need to be careful, because a spider of this size can bite through the skin and inject enough venom that the bite is quite painful or causes an allergic reaction.

Most likely, Latoia sp. Previously, many Madagascar species were considered in the genus Parasa s. lato. These butterflies have absolutely awesome caterpillars, bright and with a bunch of tree-like spiny outgrowths, resembling nudibranchs. There are spikes on the outgrowths that cause a painful burn, so it's better not to take them with your hands.
