This year I visited Georgia twice. Once In Azerbaijan. Together with Vladimir Lukhtanov, he made a memorable trip on his old Niva through Georgia and Turkey to Nakhichevan.
In addition, there were good trips to Dagestan and the North Caucasus.
A lot of observations and pictures have been made that will be posted on our website "Butterflies of the Caucasus".

I remember:

I found a fat man in Talysh. It's probably Bradyporus oniscus.



In Turkey, I came across a beautiful dybka that rode with me to Pyatigorsk and laid eggs. We are waiting for the offspring.

Most of all, I remember the trip to Moscow for the entomological bursa.



And walking around Moscow



Of the trips to the Saratov region, the most memorable were:
Budanova Gora (two super-finds)


Gerbil (just a lot of interesting beetles)


Teplovka (a pair of interesting weevils)


Rybushki (there are few finds, but I remember the terrible windmill)


And of course-I remember the exciting moment of defending my thesis)

My season was spent in my favorite forests of Petushinsky district, Vladimir region.
Oh and these regions are rich in good nature
A lot has been found, but not all of what should be there yet.....
Next season I will continue to monitor these magical places

Dear colleagues! I want to share with you a photo essay from the main
event in my life in the outgoing year 2014 (consisting of four parts with 20 photos
each).
This is the development and implementation of another public object in the Kaluga region.
The object consists of a tropical forest with trees 6-8 meters high,
an exhibition of nocturnal tropical animals, aviaries with primates, a waterfall, a section of a mountain river, a lake, a mini-museum of insects and minerals.
The rainforest area consists of more than 250 species and varieties of plants, shrubs and trees.
The facility was designed, built and commissioned in just 10 months.

I didn't go very much this year, unlike the previous one - I spent a couple of weeks in ZINA in the spring, and from May 15 to July 1, I took a ride with a botanist friend in Turkish Kurdistan and Iran. I managed to work in the Turkish provinces of Van and Hakkari and the Iranian provinces of Esfahan, Lorestan, Kurdistan and West Azerbaijan. Turkish Kurdistan is not a new land for me (although I haven't been to Hakkari before, I was very lucky to get there this time), but Iran turned out to be a novelty, despite the fact that I have been working closely with the material from there for the last few years. A stunning country, beautiful mountains, good-natured and friendly people-and a huge field for research. In general, one of the priority areas in the coming years.

The year 2014 was marked by climatic anomalies: winter honey mushrooms were collected on January 12 and December 22... it was early spring and the level of the Volga River, reservoirs and tributaries was very low.
And the entire field season was held in the Yaroslavl region under the sign of a survey of protected areas to study diversity and search for"Red Book" people... The result was the discovery of several species of beetles new to the YAO (for example: Scolytus sulcifrons); new "points" of Red Book beetles and butterflies (for the first time in 90 years, a population of Phoebe's draughtsman was found) and many photos…

in the middle zone there was a drought all year, and in Alagir, where we were based, there was not a day without rain. But despite this, I fished both night and day. Very pleased golubyanochk: bellargus, osiris, anteros and another yet unidentified yellow-winged dominula, several species were discovered new to the republic about beetles I will say nothing.... no! I can't help but say something about the beetle I've been dreaming about since childhood - morimus!
