Maybe the moderators will look for the old one?
Really gone somewhere.

I've already honked my horn for no good reason. Well, if they find it, you can move posts to it.

Since the division into tribes does not quite match the one in G M E 5 for Ennominae, I decided to delete the first post, but the whole topic disappeared. So please excuse me.

Yes, it seems that they wrote that with the deletion of the first post, the entire topic is deleted. frown.gif

Admins may have some kind of backup (assumption).
Can I try to clarify the question with them?
For recovery purposes.
Sorry to lose the topic ((

It would be nice to find an old topic, but in the meantime, let's continue in this one.

Wow, and this is definitely not even a subspecies, but a color form? Do you catch them anywhere in the Moscow Region?

And now I suggest brainstorming - how to reliably distinguish the middle row from the bottom row purely externally?

Abraxas sylvata is paler than Abraxas fulvobasalis. And more redness in spots. Both species do not inhabit the Far East. Is there an answer at all?
And in the middle of the lower wing, the spot is not fused, but in the middle row it is fused from several.

Seven troubles - one answer. Cook it. Then everything immediately becomes crystal clear. The whole question is how not to steam with cooking and distinguish these species by external signs?

Middle row-all butterflies have a small but noticeable black spot right on the inner edge of the forewing between large brown spots at the base and at the inner corner. Butterflies in the lower row do not have such spots, although one specimen from a German site seems to show something similar. There are also differences in the shape of the white area on the front wing, and it is difficult to formulate them, as indicated in the drawing. In addition, the spot on the hind wing of sylvata is much smaller, but here it is necessary to deduce the dependence of its size on the overall severity of the pattern, this is not the most reliable sign.

On the lepiforum, the genitals of the female Ch. pullata actually belong to Ch. obscurata (the male's genitals are correctly identified).

I would very much like to know the opinion of experienced moth experts about the genus Alcis. It is suspected that some may be Alcis extinctaria.
