Straight-winged birds from Mari El, Marmot settlement 2010. I remember that summer, it was very hot and dry, not like this year.

But, for example, those same long-winged verrucivores, which were repeatedly mentioned in the topic of keeping straight-winged ones. I didn't shoot them, but this summer in the Crimea I met exactly the same ones.picture: _____________________.jpg

I remember in the Luhansk region only such verrucivoruses were found. They differed from the same Moscow region with longer and more developed wings and a larger body in general. Also, males of this subspecies sing much louder!
Here, for example, are my 7-year-old photos from Severodonetsk.

PS On the second photo a friend is resting

I'll add a few more photos from the web. I note that most of the grasshoppers were taken in the south (Ukraine, Crimea, Kuban, Rostov region, Astrakhan region, Volgograd region). Where grasshoppers are in a pile - there was an outbreak in Volgograd or Astrakhan a couple of years ago.

Grasshoppers from the Penza region.

Also long-winged. In general, it is interesting, in addition to the length of the wings, to highlight other external differences among decticus from different regions. Not only verrucivorus, but also albifrons.

Another decticus from the Ruzsky district of the Moscow region. These are not uncommon here, but again, they are noticeably smaller in size than their southern counterparts.

In general, it is interesting, in addition to the length of the wings, to highlight other external differences among decticus from different regions.

They still differ in color. Roughly speaking, in the north they are mostly green, in the south they are gray.
Ovipositors in females are of different lengths and shapes, some are short and almost straight, others are long and curved.

Interestingly, in addition to the well-known verrucivorus and albifrons, there are two other related species:

Good afternoon. Help us define the view. There is only one photo.

There is a special topic for determining erect wings: http://molbiol.ru/forums/index.php?showtopic=133669&st=4300 And always include the date and place of capture
