Horror story for young entomologists

frown.gif Here's a horror story for young entomologists:

Girls who disappeared in the Sverdlovsk region, looking for the fifth day.

16-year-old Masha Sorokina and 14-year-old Masha Tarnopolskaya arrived in the Middle Urals from the Moscow Region as part of an "Ecological landing party" from the capital's zoo by agreement with the Denezhkin Kamen Nature Reserve. In the reserve, they were in a field camp on the Maly Ivdel River. On July 25, the girls went to the forest to look for and study insects. They reached a mountain range, where they got lost in the fog on their way back. All they had with them was a pack of cookies, a map, and a compass. Employees of the Police Department and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, hunters and reserve staff went in search of the teenagers. Traces of children and places where they rested have already been found, Novy Region reports.

Yes, and the Urals is not Average, but the most Northern, approaching the Circumpolar. And they are looking for them not for the fifth, but (today) for the sixth day.

Yeah.. not a girl's business lol.gif

31.07.2007 18:02, Zhuk

It was a forest troll! lol.gif

Last year, when I went to the Crimea with MGSUN, we also had one guy get lost in the woods(he turned the wrong way at a fork in the road). But he accidentally came out on us, so everyone didn't have time to get scared.
In short, you can not send children alone to study the entomofauna of the Urals smile.gif

An interesting topic would come out of stories about who and how cheated... rolleyes.gif

31.07.2007 21:47, RippeR

That's what it is.. In the year before last (like) on the 1st side of the 1st mountain almost lost about 10 people, also turned in the wrong direction lol.gifAnd the Urals, the Caucasus... Ooooh That's what I imagine.. 2 little girls there are like 2 peas in a haystack.

This year I couldn't get to Glubokoe Lake in the Ruzsky district, so I wandered around it with a map. Went finally in the other direction. Although the lake is quite famous and everyone drives there. So because of these "all" I got lost, because everywhere a lot of new roads were made. Then I still found it.

01.08.2007 11:25, Nilson

How does Murphy sound? "If you don't care where you are, you're not lost." This rule is always remembered in the right place when hiking, so stories about a two-week walk is not clear where (but with all the equipment and food) - do not count.
The most severe puncture I had was in the North. Karelia. My friend and I drove light to the lake about two or three kilometers from the camp. They returned about ten hours later, but with two sets of antlers smile.gif. In terms of orientation-the remote rugged forest and northern swamps-it's just killer.

But I have heard a wonderful saying (no offense to anyone will be said): "The Russians call the road the place where they want to pass." If desired this can be successfully paraphrased to fit entomological specifics smile.gif

I haven't seen any entomologists walking along the paths smile.gifyet

Oenotomologists, ornithologists...
Remember, when I was actively traveling to Georgia, from Abkhazia to Adjara, there was such a case. Several ornithologists got lost, and the times were Gamsakhurdiev, i.e. they were shooting...
And they got lost in the wrong direction.. got lost, got lost and got out... to the gang.
Maybe nothing terrible would have happened if one of the comrades did not look something like a distant relative of one of the" warring " comrades... It was decided to execute them without trial and only by a miracle they survived, because one of the "bandits" decided to find out what-how much... but the pants had to be changed and the nerves treated for more than one day...
Personally, I know 2 zmeelovs from Moscow, who went at different times "for gyurzy", which no one else ever heard of and did not find the remains. And one disappeared in Dagestan.
So, we need to think...

I actually did not think that this would result in a separate topic. They found the girls, and they're still alive and well. For a week they were lost, and the mosquitoes were fed a little. But, I think. that managers will still be given something to drink.

But, I think. that the managers will still be given something to drink.
And they will do it correctly.

03.08.2007 15:24, Zhuk

They, by the way, have not yet been found frown.gif

03.08.2007 16:21, Dinusik

So did they find it or not? I wouldn't want to be in their parents ' shoes.
I hope that managers will not only be fired...

03.08.2007 18:25, Nilson

It seems like they found already

03.08.2007 18:32, Dr. Niko

Lost in the taiga, the girls were found 10 km west of the nature reserve where their camp was located. Both girls spent more than 8 days in the forest.

Their condition is assessed as satisfactory, the girls can move independently, and in the near future the schoolgirls will be taken to the "mainland". The girls were found with a compass, a map and a pack of cookies.

The girls were discovered at night by a group of rescuers from the city of Karpinsk on the Malaya Potma River. Recall that the children arrived in the Denezhkin Kamen Nature Reserve as part of the ecological landing of the Moscow Zoo. They were lost on July 26, when they went into the forest to look for and describe insects.

I will allow myself a small offtop (and the topic is not so entomological).
I decided to look in the Internet about these girls. I entered "girls found" in Yandex. Yandex gives out GIRLS. And Google immediately probed news sites and gave out the necessary information. Here is such a great yandex.

"...with the girls found a pack of cookies...". Not news, and deaf phones. Somewhere ponadergali information and give out now.
Carry a pack of cookies for eight days. This is too much.
From other sources: "The schoolgirls walked more than a hundred kilometers, from the Sverdlovsk region they moved to the neighboring Perm Region. "For 7-8 days in the taiga 100 km on berries alone - this does not happen.
And the managers have already been dealt with

"...When asked if you will go to the taiga again, the friends answered:: "Absolutely." "Here.

Oops!. it turns out that they were following the compass to Moscow. A healthy generation is growing up.

And the managers have already been dealt with

How their parents haven't reached them yet...

03.08.2007 23:43, Aleksandr Ermakov

In fact, my parents were there and took part in the search. And they transfer responsibility for their children with a receipt (before the trip) to the shoulders of the expedition leader.
And the leaders in fact did not do anything so terrible as the newspapers write about: "Forced to go to the taiga alone, not provided with equipment... "(I wonder how they would have survived without equipment from mosquitoes!?).
KYUBZ has been organized since 1923. And always (almost always) his field expeditions went like this: a group of young people and leaders. Students chose their own topic and collected their own material in different nature reserves. Many well-known Moscow biologists have passed the Kluba school for Young Zoo Lovers. And Dubrovsky never let the children go "no one knows where" one by one. And the children are equipped (dressed-shod) and equipped with a map and compass.
Why am I writing all this? I don't justify managers. Their main fault is that they didn't teach them how to behave when they lost their orientation. There is no need to go anywhere, you need to sit and wait, indicating your location.
And I don't want the "pioneer biological science"to end because of this incident. On the other hand, I don't want to look for anyone else.

Meanwhile, the manager faces from 80 thousand fine to a year in prison.

So that I can ever take one of the youngsters with me... (my own don't count)

I wrote it, read it, and realized that how many times I was lost, how many times I never waited for anyone - I moved in a spiral, increasing the radius, until I found a familiar landmark.

It's really best not to mess with children. When I was working as a camp counselor, we lost two boys. Late at night, heavy rain and thunderstorms began to fall. We went to count our kids and found out that one of the cabins was empty. They searched the entire camp – no!!! The other kids said the two of them were going to run off into the woods without asking. Natalia and I (the second counselor) rushed into the forest. We ran for more than an hour in the rain through the forest, as a result of finding no one, we decided to return to the camp to raise everyone else in search. We arrive at the camp, and our kids shout that Max and Denis have been found. So, these two stooges, it turns out, crawled under the bed, afraid of a thunderstorm and fell asleep there!!! Natalya and I naturally didn't think to look under the bed, but they were sleeping soundly!!!
There's something wrong with the lost girls story, too. This whole story doesn't seem to fit. I wonder if there is any locality nearby? It feels like they've been holed up somewhere. An untouched packet of cookies… Usually, children share such things right away, and then everyone disposes of their part as they want. I know cases when healthy men lost in the taiga in two days found a little alive, and then the children! They found it 10 km away from the camp – they must have combed the area more than once… It turns out an interesting story!!!

Well, in August, let's say I went to the taiga for 2 days without food at all, only with water. And a week is really a lot. Dina was probably right: they were hiding somewhere....

Didn't follow up? I didn't follow it...

From all the conversations, the manager looks normal.. It seems that the punishment is not seriously clinging to him.. Is it really his fault, because 1 person can not fully monitor all of them? I wonder if the manager himself let them go for a" walk "away, that they got lost, or did not let them go far, and they wandered like "smart" girls? In general, I would get lost with them-fun-adventure, all that.. Berries and all that.. This is awesome!

Last year, I climbed 1 steep slope, where, at the top of the hill, 1 person tortured bats (studied). I had a small flashlight with me, which went out abruptly when the batteries ran out. There, at the top, the slope turned steeply into a flat area, so it was difficult for us to hear each other, I barely climbed higher and realized that I was not there and could not go down, as it is very difficult, the lantern shone weaklysmile.gif, Suddenly the lantern stalled altogether. I wandered around, and decided to spend the night upstairs. I made myself a bed for the night out of tree branches, wrapped myself up, slept for 1 hour and woke up, heard screams. The guy came up to me and we went down the ridge, and I didn't even know that you can get out there smile.gif

History, of course, is still shrouded in darkness... But usually a group of children should be accompanied not by one adult, but by several, because it is really difficult to keep track of them. I won't contact children's groups at gunpoint right now!
Ripper, what do you mean by "Berries and stuff.. " ? With youngsters berries are fraught with sideways lol.gif lol.gif lol.gif

I wonder how old these "youngsters"are.. In accordance with this, you can also say how many people they need to accompany.

A real biologist can get lost and be found anywhere! My friend studying titmice lost three times in a forest park near the glorious city of Chernihiv. Another friend of mine-Nona is a medical student-managed to get lost a couple of times at the Kiev railway station, on the way to the All-Ukrainian biological school Olympiad...

That's why you need such a thing as GPRS. Registered on the database. And there on the drum. Latitude degree 111 km, longitude colon73. On the spot, I calculated my coordinates, roughly guessed how far to the base and in what direction (a compass is built in, and even better when a map with a grid, although without a map you can, if there are coordinates of the base). And I went to my room. Once in the Urals, I got lost in an unfamiliar place. I found the road by following my own footprints from the sole (the soil is sandy). In an unfamiliar place, I always follow the trail, deviating for fishing no more than half a km. I just took a wrong turn. Then the situation proanolizirorval and returned to the turn kudu nado. In general, this year I worked with djipieres, a very good thing, and besides, the marks on the labels are very accurate. Here's the money you just need to pick up and go ahead for a purchase.

28.08.2007 17:31, Трофим

To Dinusic. I read about the camp, and before that about the traps where a homeless man decided to eat beer. Thank you for such wonderful stories often please us with such. Not in a bad way. It is better to live without curiosities, but sometimes they add color to life, the most important thing is just to be healthy. Here I wish you all the best.

I don't remember if they were entomologists or botanists, but they had a terrible accident in Kamchatka. They were walking, so, by the river and saw two cute and fluffy bear cubs. And they started photographing them. They got so carried away that they didn't notice how such an elderly mother came out of the bushes two hundredweight with a hook. Well, on them-they are from her – she caught up with the first one, knocked him down and started to tear – he had a backpack – fluff fell out of the sleeping bag (Chinese). The bear snorted, stopped tearing and ran after another-and that one has the same story, a Chinese sleeping bag. In short, not a single scratch on the body, backpacks in tatters. One went away quickly, the other year treated nerves.

I once led a tour of students: they got lost and wandered into a plot where drug addicts grew cannabis. And I didn't immediately understand what it was (the students later explained) - my attention was drawn to a mountain of fried chicken legs that were rotting right on the ground (???? - probably got high and forgot to eat). I" Oh, look - dead eaters! " - I pick with a stick and suddenly I see some men rushing at us in the distance, with pitchforks and a scythe in their hands. Damn, I have 10 people almost innocent girls who are not strong to run - I had to go straight and pretend a careless walk in the forest with nets in my hands. The guys looked at us and thought that they had a glitch of some kind (I had a net with a diameter of about a meter). They dispersed. But my knees were shaking...

30.08.2007 10:29, fly-km

don't entomologists and botanists know that the furry ones are taken care of by their mother?
