Good day dear forumchane!!!
Once again, for the third time, I want to present a short report on my trip to the north of Yakutia. At the congress, I told those I know, so I'll write a little here.
I will not write much, I will tell you only the main three places of stay.
1. This year was successful due to the early arrival, on June 21 I was already in Batagai, the main stronghold of our squad. The annual waiting list for a helicopter made it possible to fish well on the old places, the terraces of the Yana River. An unpleasant event was a small number of pins and mattresses, and the uncharacteristic wet summer for the Arctic regions made itself felt, butterflies, and other insects (mosquitoes, midges) turned out to be very much. Right now I realized that the main thing is to get there on time, to get to the first flight. The first two days of June 22-23, trips to the terraces were cloudy, rain often fell, but there were butterflies, primarily mass Oeneis jutta, mostly males, very rarely there were broken females Oeneis norna ssp. Chion. Apparently, eneis in these places show the seasonal nature of summer, so I thought then, because in 2009 they were in mass, and in 2010 they were completely absent. And where is Oeneis nanna, also the former in 2010? on June 24, nanna flew out in wild numbers, caught all day, three days just doing this. Along the way, I noticed that I had never seen Clossiana frigga, Clossiana tritonia and Euphydryas iduna before, as in 2009 there were Clossiana erda and Clossiana angarensis. I can also say that annual trips to the same places reveal species that have never been seen before, or have gone unnoticed. So on the terraces I met a stray Parnassius phoebus, several unidentifiable thick-heads and Sibirarctia buraetica, the first male accidentally got caught in a net, the males later came across, but I didn't have to meet the females. In addition, the bears did not stop there and on the 27th the first and only male Grammia quenseli was caught. A little later, three more females were caught. At about the same time, female Parnassius tenedius came out, flying on the terraces, but more often in the very center of the village, where it would look stupid to run with a net. Colias hyperborea yolks were very rare, there was absolutely no ubiquitous mass Colias palaeno, in the previous year it was the most massive butterfly. By the 28th-29th day, the already well-known Melitaea latonigena polaris, males and single females, flew out. As well as Mellicta menetriesi, which I previously considered Mellicta menetriesi, today at the congress I was told that this is not so, but it was also difficult to determine. Butterflies at this time, in these places you can catch up to 11-12 nights, just at this time, scoops and moths begin to fly, which also managed to catch a little. This was the end of the Batagai hunt, and on the 30th we flew to the first section. Well, a few photos:
