I propose a new topic about entomological business trips.
I begin it with a short report on the conference Animal World of Kazakhstan and adjacent territories in Alma-Ata in November 2012, where I was able to visit. I attach the program here.
My thanks to the organizers of the congress - everything was very good and at a decent level. Many interesting excursions, the opportunity to buy and receive literature as a gift were wonderful.
Interestingly, participation in the conference was free of charge.
The pictures show a general party, your humble servant in the safest place during an earthquake and together with colleagues I. Temreshev, S. Kolov, P. Yegorov, M. Childebaev.

Plenary report - 10 minutes, section report-5 minutes? It's tough...

"The speaker was given four minutes – too much, perhaps, because 198 reports from 64 countries were announced. To save time, the reports had to be studied in advance, and the speaker only called the numbers – the numbers of the key paragraphs of his abstract. To better understand this wisdom, we turned on pocket tape recorders and mini-computers, and then the main discussion was to begin between them. Stanley Hazleton from the USA immediately stunned the audience by saying: 4, 6, 11, which means 22; 5, 9, ergo 22; 3, 7, 2, 11, which again makes 22!! Someone stood up and shouted that it was still 5 and maybe 6, 18, 4. Hazleton quickly refuted the objection, explaining that one way or another – 22 is all around. Looking at the number plate, I found that 22 meant the ultimate disaster." © Stanislav Lem, " Futurological Congress "(after all, he is a genius... smile.gif)
