Good afternoon, colleagues!
Tell me who was on Elton:
-what interesting beetles/butterflies can you catch there in early May?
-which side is better to approach from?
-living conditions?
-how is it with the protection of the nature park?
-some special features...

Thank you in advance

Roman, in the world there is a book — Animals of the clay semi-desert of the Volga region. It contains one of the articles — The Coleoptera fauna of the lake's environs. Elton. Accordingly, you can get information about beetles from there.
One of the authors is Evgeny Komarov. I'd like to get in touch with him about this, but I understand he's on a field trip right now. But, perhaps, he still gets in touch from time to time.

There are a lot of interesting things there, depending on what is interesting. Some Kazakh and Central Asian (Turanian) species are introduced. The beginning of May, depending on spring, can be very different, but in general there are a lot of animals in this season.
You can drive up almost everywhere, the network of primers is dense there.
Accommodation - hotel of the sanatorium (you need to book in advance) or savages (you can get up almost anywhere).
Security seems kind, I've never seen them at all smile.gif
Special features-fresh water supply is required.

Here is a selection of beetles from the Elton area: https://insecta.pro/catalog/101" target="_blank">https://insecta.pro/catalog/101
There are still not all types (926 are in the sample now, and about a hundred more will need to be added). If you are only interested in representatives of any taxon below — use the "Custom Taxon" filter. For example, here are separate representatives of Cerambycidae (the forum does not understand links with square brackets, so I highlight the page address as a quote):

Later in the week, I will make an expanded and slightly refined version of the issue. But you can watch the main video right now.
