Turtle cockroaches run around the house

Community and ForumHow to get rid of insectsTurtle cockroaches run around the house

Манюня, 29.06.2007 17:32

I live in Yekaterinburg, a year ago they made repairs and opened the skirting boards, after that they found 2 beetles, and recently this one appeared again: the size of a five-ruble coin, completely round, 2 antennae about 1.5 cm long, without wings, protected by something like a shell that is made of horizontal stripes, paws with claws, calmly crawls along the vertebral wall of the carob, runs fast, and surprisingly you can hear him tapping his paws on the floor!!!In general, I don't know what kind of bug and what they do in our apartment ((((maybe someone knows???I'll post a photo in a couple of days, thank you in advance!!!!Maria confused.gif

Awesome! This is a cockroach, but not a domestic one, but something like desert turtle cockroaches. I don't know how I got here. Do you have anyone near you who keeps exotic animals?

Horror ((((It turns out these cockroaches have bred under my floor????What to do???I don't want to live in the same apartment with them, and I don't want to move (((

29.06.2007 19:59, omar

Once again, the cockroach is not synanthropic, but exotic. I don't think I should hate him that much. And, most likely, he just ran away from someone.

29.06.2007 20:01, omar

In general, the find is interesting. Experts of cockroaches can give comments on this?

29.06.2007 20:02, Zhuk

What a fig! Something like Polyphaga aegyptiaca. Che Toka doesn't live in apartments... You can catch them and breed them for sale smile.gif. Or dichlorvos in your hands and go.

29.06.2007 20:08, Манюня

ha,this is the 4th time in a year-it's not funny for me to meet such a person in dark caredor!!!aren't they poisonous?"???do they bite????oh, by the way, and what to feed him)))

29.06.2007 20:16, Zhuk

They are not poisonous, do not bite. Feed a lot of what you can(cockroach still), but better apple. In my opinion, cockroaches are the best pets(unless of course they themselves do not live with you).

People are lucky to find such animals! And what is interesting, vrodi as such cockroaches do not breed in apartments, although it is more or less reliably known about marble, Madagascar, but such also should not. So downright widespread reproduction and long-term existence of them is unlikely to threaten. You just need to waste less food.

"Awesome! This is a cockroach, but not a domestic one, but something like desert turtle cockroaches. I don't know how I got here. Do you have anyone near you who keeps exotic animals? "

Here! Now just wait for peciloteria or pterinochilus to visitsmile.gif, print something on a piece of paper like "Your polyphages have scattered all over the house, fix the holes in your Terra" and hang it in the entrance, maybe smile.gif

29.06.2007 23:28, Dmitrii Musolin

meet someone like that in dark caredor!!!

where do you meet them? Can you translate this word into Russian? м-да....

Figasse, polyphaga! Where would she come from?

30.06.2007 17:15, Манюня

it would be better to say something about the topic than to comment on other people's typos...
and many thanks to everyone else, I hope that this was the last one))))probably give it to a pet store)))

you can place an ad:
found a cockroach Polyphaga, tel ....

At the same time, you will know who they are running from, as well as how best to protect yourself from this person smile.gif
Cockroaches are cool!

** and there is someone from molbiol reading and laughing: "ha, here they are already writing about me and about my cockroaches":)

I thought about it too))))I wonder if they admit it or not))))by the way, he still doesn't eat,not even an apple(((I'm starting to worry about his health...

02.07.2007 0:30, RippeR

You don't watch him all day, do you? After all, he can apple a little bit.. which isn't even noticeable..

I will hope that you are right))) I also wanted to clarify, he probably does not feel comfortable in a glass jar-maybe he should pour sand there or put herbs???

02.07.2007 8:42, omar

Give him a bread crumb soaked in kvass.

They also love all sorts of rot with mycelium.

They like to eat carrots, less cabbage, raw zucchini, and be sure to give something like fish food or cat food, or boiled egg yolk.
In the jar, it is desirable to pour low-lying peat, or vermiculite, completely on bare glass, this is a horror of course. Sand is not necessary, you can use dry grass if there is nothing else.

Great! I envy you! In general, polyphages can be facultative synanthropes, but on the first floors, in houses with adobe floors, etc. I myself saw this in Uzbekistan in Tashkent, but in the areas of old buildings. Pour some kind of substrate (such as dried leaves, etc.) into the jar, they like to be buried.

And he (the cockroach) is not Vasya, but Vasilisa-because the female. I think you can put sand on the bottom of the jar.

is it necessary to pour water for him or does he get enough liquid from food??

02.07.2007 13:51, omar

If you feed fresh vegetables and fruits, then you can not give water.

02.07.2007 14:07, Манюня

I filled him with earth, small stones, now she has fun by climbing under the stones, and since they are small, they roll off her, as a result, she rolls pebbles on the bank)))))

Oops...a trend, however!
The first polyphage was shown to me in Yekaterinburg in 2002. From under the bathroom in a communal apartment fished out. I then identified it as P. saussurei. Now here are some more facts. Brought friends gasterbeiters tummies with them...
If anyone is interested, I can unsubscribe my theses on this issue (as an advertisementsmile.gif):
Ermakov, A. I., Synanthropic arthropods of Yekaterinburg, in Prirodnye i gorodskie ekosistemy: Probl. izucheniya biograficheskogo:Sat. art. of the conference participants. science. seminar, April 9-11, 2002, April 20-23, 2003, Yekaterinburg. Yekaterinburg: Polygraphist Publ., 2003, pp. 60-67.
There are five types of cockroaches for modern Yekaterinburg is given. The Central Asian cockroach (Schelfordella lateralis) has also been found. Well, this is not the limit, according to M. G. Sergeev, our well-known and respected orthopterologist, 5-7 species of cockroaches now live in Moscow, and in large port (especially warm) cities-up to 10-15. Soon, light traps and nets will be effective instead of sneakers.

04.07.2007 15:08, Aleksandr Ermakov

Once again, the cockroach is not synanthropic, but exotic. I don't think I should hate him that much. And, most likely, he just ran away from someone.

And yet, in these circumstances, it is already a synanthrope. If he could escape from someone, settle down and maintain his numbers. I think Clausnitzer has a definition of synanthropy in his urban fauna.
It fits perfectly.

Manyunya, and please tell us the place (at least the city district and the type of building, floor) and approximately the date. I will sharpen this information for science...
and also, if you can give me at least one. At least a dead one....

scarabee, about the reasons, it is unlikely that these are "gasterbiters", do you know that the scale of such a phenomenon as the content of exotic cockroaches at home is very striking. I can suggest other groups that you should search for facts about-Periplaneta, Gromphadorhina, Nauphoeta, Blaptica, Blaberus.

And please post your abstracts, interesting smile.gif

Yes, yes. Really very interesting!

In Moldova, this is about 2-5 peoplefrown.gif.Our people do not yet know that keeping an arthropod is 100 times cooler than keeping a dog or cat, which "where I want to pee, where I want to poop", are expensive, bark, bite, are not allowed in the house and eat a lot.. smile.gif

Here. Sorry for the quality - I haven't slept yet today. Yes, and for the content, if anything... I couldn't sleep then either smile.gif
The output is (just in case) a few messages above.

Sealor: Thank you for the thought provoking information.

I never caught it myself, but I held it in my hands twice: they brought it once in the institute's collection.
Almost always in winter. And always from student dorms. Especially pleased with the female monster in a fur coat, a sort of wingless female antique volnyanka.
The fact that they are connected there with cockroaches (although the latter began to disappear) is obvious.

Manyunya, how do I pick it up? I'm leaving on Sunday for a week, but someone from our institute will look after Vasya (I also have an aquarium - a gerbil went to the dacha). I'll send you my cell phone and e-mail in a personal message. Please write where to pick up the cockroach from...I myself nest not far away - in the Infantry. Tomorrow or the day after I would have stopped by.
