Breeding of leaf beetles

Community and ForumInsects breedingBreeding of leaf beetles

Hello! I make this request: has anyone tried to breed leaf beetles at home? But today I caught a female rapeseed leaf beetle (Entomoscelis adonidis), pregnant, so I want to try to bring it out, otherwise this beetle is rare in the Tyumen region, on the northern border of its range, it is listed in the Red Book...

Yes, it seems that there are no special problems with them... You put a forage plant and wait for the eggs. The food plant should always be fresh, of course.

Do you need to freeze your eggs? Or can they develop without diapause?

I think that there is no point in freezing, but just let them lie in the refrigerator for at least 3 months...

It is better this way: 15 days in the refrigerator, 1 day in the freezer, 10 days in the refrigerator and out.
