At least explain who you're asking about.
Many people probably breed tropical insects here.

Most of all, I am interested in saturnia and kaligo, whether mating (saturnia)is possible
manually in an insectarium.Thank you.

You can manually pair Saturnium. Many species mate on their own without problems.
What tropical species are you interested in? Information-shaft...Kaligo can be grown in Cannes, which grows quite quickly in the garden in the summer...Oleg Zakurkin has a lot of animals (Kiev)

If you own personal information about crossing Saturnia, please in PM, any
questions about otsech.nymphalides I will answer.
Types of Saturnia,I'm interested in any(not expensive)which, according to you, work out by themselves.
You personally that you breed from Saturnia, Atlas bred
(incubated from eggs or at least from caterpillars)
Zakurkin personally know.
Who can find mourners and hives for reintroduction of the species in the region?Thank you.

Mated by hand from saturnium-
Caligula thibeta
C.japonica
C. simla
Saturnia pyri
Attacus atlas (bred it also with a full cycle)
Suychas from Saturnia has a culture of Caligula boisduvalii
Zakurkin I know by correspondence with him. I haven't met him in person.
At the moment, Andrey Zagorinsky has a good selection of Saturniums...
Mourners like Denis Tumanov collected on Cheget (if they are-the spots are not purple, but brown)... if you need their addresses-in pm write....
I breed Papilionidae, Satyridae, Lycaenidae, Pieridae, Nymphalidae, Saturniidae, Arctiidae, and some other families...but now there are not very many types-only 6-7

I've never done it, but I really want to try to grow not only butterflies, but also their offspring from the purchased Attacus Atlas pupae. How to get fertilized eggs and under what conditions to keep caterpillars, is it really possible in an apartment?

20.09.2008 18:12, Бабочник

Atlas is easy to breed. But I do not advise you to try it now - there will be nothing to feed the caterpillars with. In spring, it's very simple - they eat lilac, privet, and ailanthus. They eat like horses - you'll carry them in armfuls. Tracks, as well as miscalculated Saturnias, make no difference. You can pair them manually. Sometimes they mate on their own...

I've never held a saturn, I haven't found one. At what temperature is it better to keep Attakusov?

24.09.2008 19:29, Бабочник

Approximately +25+30C will be the best. But some, for example, Archeoattacus still require high humidity, otherwise they will not be able to shed. Atlas (Attacus) grows normally at room temperature in summer and at normal humidity....

Atlas is very prone to getting sick. Everything, of course, depends on the specific culture, but, one way or another, it is desirable for the caterpillars to have good ventilation, and for the first two or three increases, the humidity is also high. And the density of planting caterpillars should be made small. If mold appears in the cage or there is poor ventilation, they are very likely to take a break.
You can pair it manually, but for an inexperienced person it will be very difficult. But in general, the view is quite simple.

For DIMID
Scored when I was in the fall in the Urals butterflies mourning.......I also want, if they normally overwinter, to breed and release them in the Moscow region and in Izmailovsky Park in Moscow....there will be a lot, I will share it......recently, they have become rare.....they even brought it to the CC.....as for the tropics, the former Soviet Union and Europe, as a rule, circulate already quite hackneyed cultures....who is there who is who, without 100g can not be disassembled....all the more often they are also infected...IMHO... wink.gif
