We continue about the place Ranumafana in Madagascar. This time, the insects are from the path that you can walk to the national park for free, bypassing the ticket offices.

I welcome the definitions of indeterminates.

Today, two small towns are in line: dAnja Reserve and Isalo National Park. There are few insects there even in the rainy season, especially in the second, as the locations are semi-arid.

I love South Africa, the nature is incredible wink.gif. I'm also going next year, and I can't wait. I will photograph everything, animals, birds, plants, insects. I'll drop the best ones here.

January-February: Tanzania-Kenya-Uganda, then variably-Ethiopia or South Africa. Anyone interested in joining us?

Let's continue about Madagascar!

In December 2018, I rode around the north of the island with entomologists. We visited three remote national parks. I'll start with Ankarafantsik - a wonderful park with a dry deciduous type of forest. We lived right in the park in a bungalow. There were light bulbs on the veranda, but they were dim, they didn't take DRL with them.

A cool African branch mantis Popa spurca arrived.

picture: DSC_3713.jpg

An even more interesting ghostly praying mantis, Phyllocrania paradoxa, went to felsume for dinner.

picture: DSC_3707.jpg

We were lucky enough to see a rare scene of a scorpion and a centipede fighting. More precisely, its finale — the centipede was already dead…

picture: DSC_3740.jpg

The Damastes spider. The largest species of this genus live in the spiny forest in southern Madagascar. But even in the north of the country there are small animals.

picture: DSC_3763.jpg

Phromnia rosea was very abundant on the branches.

picture: DSC_3852.jpg

In December, the island has mango season. A basin with 4-5 kg of fruit can be purchased for 20-40 rubles. The main entomofauna on dozens of kilograms of rotting fruit lying under each mango tree is Byblia anvatara.

Ankarafantsika in December is the kingdom of caterpillars. Antherina suraka.

Borocera.

You can't go to the park at night. But how not to walk when the main traffic is at night. You can skip everything that way...

Stellognatha maculata.

There were a lot of ground beetles in the park. Which, as a ground beetle, I was very happy about. There are no carabuses on Mad, but they are successfully replaced by other genera.
