Late January the “Alive Tropical Butterflies and Moths” exhibition opened at the Volzhsky city Regional History Museum. The museum exposes about 10 species and over 100 specimens of butterflies and moths from Southeast Asia, South America and Africa, to name Nymphalidae, Papilionidae, Saturniidae. You can also see there a huge owl butterfly that can have a wingspan up to 7.3 inches.

Exhibition butterflies bred at farms in the Philippines and brought to Russia as pupae. There is an insectarium in the museum room to see how new butterflies and moths emerge from their cocoons. The show of the kind is made for the first time in Volzhsky city.

The “Alive Tropical Butterflies and Moths” exhibition will run through the middle of March. Opening hours: daily, 9—18. The round-up excursion is included.
