Taxonomy, synonyms and combinations

  • Teinopalpus parryae; Teinopalpus imperatrix. [PC81].

Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

  • Wingspan Male 75-85 mm, Female 90-110 mm. Head with strong protruding frons and the third segment of palpi elongated. Sexes strongly dimorphic in wing shape. Male FW is pointed at apex and slightly concave at termen, HW with a long yellow-tipped tail at vein 4, strong dentate at the end of veins 2, 3, 5 and 6, UP is black with heavily metallic green dusting, FW with a narrow black oblique band from mid-costat to mid-dorsum, outer-edged by heavily yellowish-green dusting and a paler postdiscal band, HW a broad yellow discal patch entered the end cell. Female wings are much broader and larger than in the male, FW oblique discal and post discal bands broad yellowish-gray, yellow-orange tornal patch is prominent, with three yellow-tipped tails at veins 4, 5 and 6, two dentates at veins 2 and 3.
