Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

  • Body length: 10-20 mm. Unlike the similar species, Geotrupes stercorarius is smaller. Hind legs with only 2 transverse keels. Pronotum base with solid border. The top is bluish-black or black with blue or green sides, the bottom is metallic. blue or green, reddish antennae. The hind thighs of ♂ and ♀ are without a prong on the posterior edge. [249].
