Dear colleagues! Help me contact "fellow countryman", I can't find either the topic or remember the nickname! I definitely remember the label under Deilephila elpenor, with the same Domodedovo district, Vostryakovo station...
P.S. I would like to talk about ribbon shops in "our" neighborhood, share my experience.

142 views, and all-by! I'll have to look for it myself....
And also - are there any people who catch tapeworms on bait in the Moscow region? Maybe they could be useful to each other in terms of sharing their experience?

Why search for it: here (it is also relevant for M. O.).
I myself do not catch any bait other than light, but I observed 4 species in my city of Zheleznodorozhny this summer:
C. sponsa (a lot, in places).
C. nupta (during the day, everywhere, en masse).
C. fulminea (isolated, to light).
C. fraxini (1 specimen, afternoon).

Yes, I have seen this topic... I was just hoping to find a member of this wonderful forum that catches you in the same place as me. This summer I missed the moment - since the end of July there were unusually many Catocala (Mormonia) sponsa, In early August-Catocala fraxini-I have already caught these, but I have seen Catocala nupta more than once in the city, but never where I usually catch it-in the country.

And I still hoped to discuss the design of traps - on the forum I came across one (unfortunately, I don't remember the author now= from 1.5-2 liters of beer bottles, water), which is fundamentally equal to those that I put, but with one small addition - I cut them into three parts, and in my version it is possible to detach both the cone-shaped upper part and the lower one(it is put on the middle one, and fixed, "fastened" to the middle one with a pair of stationery elastic bands fixed above), because it seems to me more convenient to "unfasten" the lower part " with the bait, and shake out the catch through the removable top (tied with tape in this way, which leaves a tab that allows you to quickly remove the top-entrance.
And of course-share the secrets of making a bait -))))

... Share (of course!); or maybe someone is using something just as simple, but no less effective (without the traditional trap systems that include an umarivayushchy module from below) and bypassing oiled trunks/ fabric during the night.

I will explain why - "late": fresh, without bursts of sponsa - I did not have a chance to see in the traps, although they came across in the first decade of August, and at the end of July, when I noticed them in the forest during the day (fluttering out from under my feet, and sitting on the nearest tree trunk, as it should be....))) from the opposite, hidden side) was not ready in time - I was forced to return to the city (and only after that-almost total "dominance" of fraxini...)
A nupta... How to catch it in the city, I just can't imagine, those copies that came across in the entrance, on the balcony in 2008-2009 are far from perfect, and with traps it's not particularly that ...you look like it... Unless you can find some park nearby (you usually put it at dusk, but about 2-3 hours, or at 5 in the morning you go to choose...)

Part of my city collection this summer (only what I decided to deliver).
With red ribbons in general this year dominance. Caught during the day, by collecting stain from trees. Only a single C. fulminea was caught in the light, and C. fraxini was seen only once and also during the day.
Alexander73, I don't understand why Nupta is so bad for you? "Buckets" in Zheleznodorozhny (and in Moscow I caught it) could be collected.

I don't even know what to say... Apparently, you, in Zheleznodorozhny, are greener and freer (and butterflies and catchers))) than I have in Moscow - avenues and streets, and trees once or twice... frown.gif

Well, why not? That's She's from Moscow.
They are quite strange in their behavior simply.

By the way, is there anyone who keeps a phenological diary? What are the data on Catocala in Moscow and the Moscow region?

Here, in fact, are the tapeworms discussed above (left and right rows: Catocala fraxini (04-13. 08. 2011), and respectively Catocala sponsa (22.07-13.08.2011)
