I have a dozen apollos coming out every day, with about 150 pupae in total. I got the eggs myself.
60 pieces have already been released.
I have previously heard that the ratio of males to females in nature is approximately 50/50.
So I get so far so that 4-5 males - 1 female.
Maybe, of course, the females, all the remaining pupae?
Who has an opinion?

.. I wonder what you'll do with so many butterflies? All in envelopes - in nature at the moment they still have absolutely nothing to do!

In the field conditions of the Penza region, there is a ratio of 1 female to 3 males (the latter, by the way, are more likely to die due to the fact that they fly out earlier and are noticeably smaller than females).

there is an opinion.
wait until the end of the "experiment", and then draw conclusions.

It seems that you are right, the ratio is already equalizing 47 males to 39 females, there are more females left.

Males in apollo are hatched earlier than females. They need to ripen before... smile.gif
