Hello! During the literary game, the question arose: which of the insects that Prince Guidon turned into flies faster?
The mosquito, of course, disappears. But there were disagreements about the bumblebee and the fly. I would like to hear the opinion of experts, because the data on the Internet is very contradictory.
I know that there are hundreds of bumblebees and thousands of flies, so I'll ask you about the speed of the most famous ones: the urban bumblebee Bombus hypnorum and the housefly Musca domestica

All bumblebees fly at about the same speed (with the same size), but different flies - very differently. The proposed Musca domestica is not a very high-speed flyer. I think that when flying across the sea with a bumblebee, they will have + / - parity. From the point of view of aerodynamics, I would advise the prince to turn into a ktyr - and he flies quickly and can stand up for himself if anything happens. But there is also a problem with food: for a flight over the water space, it is fashionable to starve to death. A guidon in the form of Musca domestica, could feed on the sweat and excrement of the team, but in the form of a ktyr or bumblebee, it would have nothing to eat there. However, if he turned into a pre-hibernation female bumblebee, then he could hold out due to the reserves of fat body With a female mosquito, by the way, there would also be no problems - zebesya in the crevice of the ship, and bite the sleeping sailors at night. So it seems that Pushkin knew what he was doing by choosing these particular insects. It remains only to recognize the property of Guidon not only as a werewolf, but also as a transgender person, and it is still unclear how he returned back without the help of a ship "across the sea to his lot", probably the prevailing wind direction was from the kingdom of Saltan to the island of Buyanu. It's not for nothing that the barrel was brought along exactly this route.
