Colias croceus

Dear Nikita,
And what should be guided in determining the sex of danaids in the case when the male does not differ in appearance from the female? At papilio for example, it is immediately clear on the tail, but with danaidkami as I doubt.

I honestly don't know.
In Danaus chrysippus, the difference is that the male and female are still visible on the outer side of the wings. On the upper wings, you should look for the presence of white dots, the female has more of them.

And what should be guided in determining the sex of danaids in the case when the male does not differ in appearance from the female?
Males have androconial scales. This is the lower spot on the hind wings. In other species, they are located approximately in the same place; often visible only from the underside.

  Colias croceus
Why such categoricality?

24.08.2016 0:50, Nick444444

Why such categoricality?

In crocea females, the number of spots on the upper wings is less than on the wings of erate females.
I compared:

Then I would offer my own version smile.gif.
Although it is quite difficult to tell from such a photo who is who.

And what can be used for a more accurate definition (well, if you do not consider the genitals)? Here I myself am inclined to croseus, but this is not the only controversial instance, I would like to be able to separate these species more or less reliably...

Yes, they should be cooked in our conditions at least until revayana is found. I also caught something similar in Pestovo last year, although the greenish tint was much more noticeable there.
