DSC_1522 Xylota curvipes (The old Chalcosyrphus femoratus is now called Chalcosyrphus curvipes. http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.p...hread_id=21988)

Kostya, here is a photo:
picture: post_23314_1345746268.jpg

This is still Ch. valgus, as far as I can tell (the angle is pretty good). There are three similar types: Ch. valgus (= Ch. femoratus auct., = Xylota femorata auct.), Ch. femoratus (= Ch. curvipes auct.) и Ch. rufipes. In Ch. femoratus, the hind legs are more curved, and a different shape of the black spot on the top of the hind thighs (it is more extensive). Ch. rufipes, unlike the closely related Ch. valgus, has an almost black arista. Other signs are either not visible in the photo, or less significant. Ку!

What about the link? The browser doesn't open...

*************
That's it, I opened it - the parenthesis got stuck in the link smile.gif

So Chalcosyrphus valgus = Chalcosyrphus femorata = Xylota curvipes?

No, see my previous post.

Has anyone seen such a humpback by any chance? On Diptera.info they don't say anything. August 22, In Karelia. They swarmed around the oak leaves, seeming to lick up the sweet sticky sap. Quite large, about 3 mm.

Try to write to Misha Mostovsky on phorids _ mail.ru>, however, this is 2008 soap.

Yes, almost 100%.

That is, the first is Eristalis arbustorum, and the second is Eristalis interrupta ?
I can't tell the difference between them. Dark little rectangles (trapezoids) on the outside of the wings ?
Is this photo also Eristalis arbustorum ?

1. Both photos are Helophilus trivittatus, male.
2. Both are H. pendulus, female.
3. Both - H. hybridus, male, dark specimen, well that the legs are visible.
4. Both - Eristalis sp., very muddy picture.
5. Xantogramma pedissequum, male.
6. Both-Eristalis sp. (abusiva, nemorum, horticola, etc., etc.), male.

1. Well, yes.
2. They differ in size (arbustorum is much smaller), and the number (interrupta has one pair of spots), and the shape of the spots, and smaller signs that are simply not visible in these photos. See Green Determinant, 1970, vol. 5, part 2.3
. Yes, it looks like arbustorum.

I have repeatedly said here that under binoculars, all Eristalis are detected very easily, but only a small part is clearly visible from the photo.

2. Yes, it is pellucens.
6,9. I do not know ulidiidae, but I would say that it is Myennis octopunctata.
8. Female Eupeodes sp.
14. Female Eristalis sp., possibly E. tenax.

3. Tachinidae, I think Tachina
4. Bombyliidae, Hemipenthes
5,7. Sarcophaginae
10. perhaps Drosophilidae

And then you were gone for a long time, I uploaded it to the Dipter - they suggested Platycheirus, I assumed Platycheirus scutatus.
