Hello! My question is: should I make posts in the "Insect Images" section of the forum with photos of insects that are already in the gallery?

I think not. This very topic in the Community is a legacy of the forum. If there was consent from all the authors of the photos, it would be worth transferring them all to the gallery (and in the comments to the photos in the gallery). And descending from heaven to earth-the algorithm is as follows: - If you didn't take the photos: we upload the photos to a third-party hosting service, write a comment in the topic "Images..." and insert photos from a third-party resource into them. (For the future, we should discuss how necessary it is to upload non-your photos to the site without using third-party resources — this, of course, would be convenient, but copyrights and all that...) — If the photos were taken by you — we will upload them to the gallery with all the known data. Taxon specialists always have the opportunity to select photos that are specific to the subspecies taxon (which relate to their specialization). — If photos hang in the gallery for a long time without definition, we publish a message in " Images...", they say, guys, photos hang for a long time, please note. And we insert links to photos or photo numbers or the photos themselves from the gallery in the message (via double channels).

Thank you for your answer, Peter. In this case, what is in "Images...", but not in the gallery, can be duplicated in it? What is good about the forum "Images of Insects" in addition to photos, is that there are interesting discussions of species. For example, in "Zheltushki".

Yes, you can safely duplicate it to the gallery. Regarding the discussions — a lot of work has been done with the forum right now, but, of course, not all of it. I think that later we will work at the level of individual messages (and not as it was this summer), and as part of this activity, we will drag messages to more appropriate topics (or even to taxa), remove unnecessary garbage, etc. Judging by how many adjustments have been made at the topic level, at the message level we are waiting for just a sea...

As for me, discussions do not interfere with images, but only complement them and make the topic more interesting. But this, of course, is just my opinion.
