A bumblebee-colored gadfly?
I don't know much about entomology, so I'd like to ask more
knowledgeable people before throwing the insect out with the dust.
Is there such a type of gadfly that completely emits the color of a bumblebee?
Thank you.

Are you sure it's a gadfly?"
Most likely babbler Volucella bombylans

Well, at least on a mobile phone to take a picture of it... and then you can guess until you're blue in the face. Basically, there are flies that look like bumblebees.

Yeah, and not just the flies...

Everything is right. Gadfly (not horsefly!!!) just like its pubescence and color bumblebee (or bumblebee-like babblers). I mean gadflies from the genus Gastrophilus.

There are some, but I have vague doubts. In the vast majority of cases, gadflies are called either horseflies or sirfids. And to meet such a gadfly is much less likely than other representatives of mimicking flies.
In any case, you need a photo.

Well, in general, I agree. Without a photo, it is very difficult to discuss such issues.

In the south, in the Crimea and in the Caucasus, there is a very large bumblebee horsefly Tabanus tricolor. In some places it is quite common. Furry, black-white-red. Maybe he, dear? And, indeed, Alexey is right - some gadflies look like bumblebees. And so people usually call horseflies gadflies. Like Ethel Lillian Voynich wink.gif
