Damage to pine cones

Community and ForumInsects identificationDamage to pine cones

Hello!
Tell me, please, what happened to the common pine cones from the south of the Tyumen region? I asked at the botanic forum , but no one could say anything specifically... When examining the cones, no arthropods, nematodes were seen, so at first they decided that it was possible some kind of bacterial or viral disease, although of course it is possible that there are some gallica or ticks... About 30% of cones are affected...

According to the description, it is more likely a pine cone resin (Pissodes validirostris), a beetle of the family. Curculionidae Weevils). we need to look at the larvae. There must be entry holes.

If there is a fire pit, then there should be excrement outside.

You have a problem with a weevil (Yasheeyufhe tryshfsh No yueђ no she Yyyy.).
This is evident from the many injuries and small tarry deposits on the cones.
This is such a brown beetle, somewhere 6-7 mm. It flies in May.
The generation is one-year-old.
Likes well warmed up areas.
Especially in young scots pine crops.
Business as usual.

This is the shishkov smolevka (Pissodes validirostris Gyll.).
For some reason, Latin flew out.
