Dear colleagues, is there anyone from Chukotka (as strange as it may sound)? Or maybe someone doesn't live there, but happens in the summer?
I need biological material from these sites for soil mites (i.e., for all but parasites). Moss, lichen, rotting remains (vegetable) and all that sort of stuff. For the subsequent expulsion of ticks from there.
I can buy it if necessary. I will definitely reimburse you for your soil expenses.
I have repeatedly written on the forum for similar requests - many forum members responded last year and helped (from Siberia, Sakhalin and even abroad). The material can be really interesting, at the moment several controversial species are being prepared for redescription, and the candidacy of some in sp. nov is being considered.
But Chukotka is the "end of the world" and not everyone goes there. So I wrote about it specifically.
There are no problems with fees if you are already going on an expedition and collecting material. Shipping across Russia also doesn't cause any legal difficulties.
If there is such a possibility (or it is planned) this year, then write Jukoman@yandex.ru (Vasily). I'll take a note and remind you if necessary.
Thank you.
By the way, the region is completely unexplored. Although I work on taxonomy, morphology, and juveniles, I can also write faunistics for the region (which is rare for ticks now).
