user posted imageAbscess Mylabris sp. (Meloidae). Prefers umbrella and cereal plants. In summer, these beetles are easy to find on flowering dill. The larvae parasitize locust pods, bringing great benefits to agriculture. The blood contains the toxic substance cantharidin. If it gets on the skin, it causes inflammation. The bright coloration warns birds that this beetle is poisonous.
The picture was taken in the Astrakhan region.
