This copy. caught in Vadul lui Vody (Moldova), on the Dniester River in about 85 AD. Now this population is completely dead.

nogelii Herrich-Schaffer, 1851
Locally distributed Southern European pigeon. Over the past decades, the number of habitats has been steadily decreasing, and this can not always be explained by anthropogenic impact. There are currently 2 known locations in Ukraine in the former Soviet Union.

First, it is correct not to use Tester, but Thestor, and not nogeli, but nogelii. Secondly, there are actually more points: one in Dnepropetrovsk (almost within the city limits), several near Zaporozhye, and several more in the South-Eastern Crimea. They were also found in the Poltava, Kherson and Odessa regions, but the species probably became extinct there.

I've also only heard about two points (a subspecies in Crimea, so that doesn't count)

With the nogelii subspecies, everything is quite complicated. Dobrogensis has been described from Romania, and it is often cited for Ukraine. How it differs from the nominative one, I do not know.

If you want to deal with tomares, here is the article: http://webh01.ua.ac.be/vve/Phegea/2000/Phegea28-3_87-117.pdf (in German).

By the way, the fact of the butterfly's death is not yet final. They say they caught it in the steppes (Andreev's personal message) in the north. However, the material itself is missing. And although there is really nothing to confuse it with. And people defined it as kind of serious. But alas, there is no material, and therefore sadness, sadness.... frown.gif

It can be anything and anywhere smile.gifThere is a suitable place - there are butterflies.. You just need to look for what no one else is doing..

When were they caught in the steppes? Maybe everything there has long been trampled, built up, worn down, dirty??
