Did you use 1 layer or combine several layers?
What kind of adapter was used?

layers can be up to 12-15. the adapter on my MBS is different. Previously, I used a simple plastic ring that allows me to "put the camera on the eyepiece. Makarov does the same, only the ring is made of iron with a fixing screw.

Can I tell you more about the design of this ring?

yes, there is nothing really special there. A piece of iron matched in length/diameter to the camera lens and eyepiece, with a fixing screw fixing it on the eyepiece. The only point is that both Makarov and I have compact cameras with a small lens. I do not know how to land a camera with a healthy lens (such as Canon G3, G6, etc.). Here, most likely, you need a branded adapter with optical compensators. Or make it to order. I used to fit a plastic ring from the Student Cam Video Labs camera-it fit the diameter of the old camera lens.

Did you make this adapter yourself? How far is the camera lens from the eyepiece lens? Or is it not essential? I also have a digital compact...

Makarov did his own (the first version that I saw was generally from a bank of "Complivita"smile.gif). The distance is 3-5 mm, I think. Depending on this distance and the size of the eyepiece / field of view of the eyepiece.MBSa in the photo will have a black ring around the edge. "Playing" with the zoom, in principle, it can be leveled.

Thank you so much for the photos! Large beautiful ground beetles and barbels are certainly great, but I want so much attention to various "little things".

Among the beetles, there are many small species, and even very small ones!!! Here for them, I would definitely not regret the flowers!!! jump.gif

comrades, have patience! I'm alone, and there are a lot of beetles...
it is clear that all sorts of interesting stuff is full, but I need to have it at hand:
1. mounted
2. reliably defined.

All the same, you (lovers of ground beetles) are fine. On the forum "Images of insects" from the last ten pages-seven are devoted to ground beetles. And imagine the difficult fate of those (no doubt poor and flawed individuals) who are not interested in ground beetles at all.

There will also be elephants with plates and all sorts of very small evil spirits - just let the computer finish fixing.

  Kytorrhinus quadriplagiatus Motschulsky, 1839

Tuva, the southern shore of the lake. Kara-Hol, 1.08.2013

Strange thing is, according to the keys from the Fauna of the USSR, it turns out exactly quadriplagiatus, and there is no alternative. However, in the range of this species, only the south of the European part is so indicated. It may be that this species was introduced to Tuva. In addition, there is a certain species Kytorrhinus kaszabi from Mongolia, described after the publication of the grain volume of the Fauna of the USSR. I don't know what he looks like, but maybe he is...

picture: 2305_03600670.jpg

This is Kytorhinus karasini Fisch., in Tuva ( and in general in Southern Siberia) it is common.

Hmm, strange, in the Fauna of the USSR, this species is somehow also missing in the defining keys. Although, as far as I understand, this is the type species for the genus Kytorrhinus. Thank you for your clarification!

11.05.2014 11:31, scarit

Yes, although its description in the "Fauna" is given separately. I caught a couple of specimens in the Kemerovo region. At first I defined them as K. quadriplagiatus, but A. Legalov from ISEJ redefined them as karasini.

12.05.2014 13:17, Lafa

In Irkutsk, this species (or a very similar one) was found in the mass on yellow acacia trees. We thought it was K. quadriplagiatus.
