An interesting barbel from the tribe Mesosini
Mutatocoptops sp.
There is a suspicion of a female Mutatocoptops ?alboapicalis Pic, 1925? But not the fact that it is this particular type confused.gif
The beetle's length is 19 mm.
Please correct the definition if possible so that I can edit the post.

Von Breuning is dead, and there's no one to ask. I mean, what he meant in ' 73, under the name malaisiana.
And this animal is most similar to this one, Bornean in origin -
http://www.cerambycoidea.com/forum/topic.a...s=mutatocoptops
not on alboapicalisanancyloides. If it's not all the same at all.
It can also be new, because it is defiantly short and broad-shouldered. Well, if you approach the question from the other sidesmile.gif)

Sad frown.gifBut where to find it? Mine is Malay by the way (the label is 100% correct). As recently as today, I talked to trapper "over a can of beer."

Don't be discouraged! wink.gif Such situations in tropical lamias are smaller than half a finger in size - a lot of them. And with krupnyak, everything is not always clear. beer.gif

Damn, I'm certainly not an expert on barbels - this is M. L. you should contact, but in my opinion this is praeusta, since in starkii the blackness along the lateral edges of the elytra goes far beyond the middle, and here only the shoulders are blackened. smile.gif Such praeustas are quite common...

Well, I don't know, the beetle, of course, if possible I will show M,L,, but judging by its determinant of Caucasian barbels, it is starkii. Pubescence at the base of the elytra is twice as long as at the ends (although not visible in the photo), the convex edge of blackening of the elytra... I compared with my praeusta-different! This specimen is larger and even has more pronounced punctuation of the elytra...

Well, especially since you have a bug and it's easier for you to look and think. Let's just say
that the beetle does not look like a typical starkii, but there are a lot of deviations. In my beetles, they are really all European, the spots on the end of the elytra are clearly delineated, the stripe on the side is clear and long. From this I danced, what can be starkii on the territory of Russia God only knows and a little bit M. L. smile.gifWhen I saw a photo on the Zinovsky site of K. Makarov of this beetle from the Moscow province, it is still closer to my European ones.Well, something like that, sorry if I knocked down pontalyku smile.gif

I sent the same photos to M. L. Danilevsky. His answer: "By and large, yes, this is it. But absolute confidence is given only for females that have a distinct hole on the last stubble of the abdomen"
Such a New Year's gift: a new species of barbel in the YAO fauna!!! And to confirm-we will catch in 2014!!!!
I add a photo of the abdomen of one of the specimens...

Celosterna is now commonly written with an "r" (Cerosterna).
The worst part is that I don't like her in this guise, with the spines on her mustache and the bad sculpture of her pronotum. It's more like Apriona. It would be necessary to search..
