Unfortunately, I can't say anything about this taxon, and I don't have any data on its distribution or biology. If the barbel experts answer, I would be very grateful! shuffle.gif

Question to Entalex: is Saperda (Anaerea) similis common in the Tula region?

17.07.2007 10:08, omar

And another question: when leaving the pupa, Saperda scalaris has a gray-green color of the elytra pattern, and if the beetle is kept alive for several days, it becomes intensely yellow. Why is this happening?

17.07.2007 10:32, Aleksandr Safronov

Question to Entalex: is Saperda (Anaerea) similis common in the Tula region?

No, omar, this species is rare and local. I have only one copy with a "magic", very old landing. A kind of island in the middle of an anthropogenic landscape. There I also found Saperda perforata, S. scalaris, S. populnea, Necydalis major. In the same area there is a population of Nymphalis xanthomelas. shuffle.gif

Can I find out exactly how it was detected?

Like many beetles - by accident. I used to catch Gnorimus nobilis on umbrella fish . Another beetle scurried off the inflorescence . Annoyed, I turned around and buried my face in the bug. There was a small satisfaction. If I'd passed by, I wouldn't have noticed. Aspen - one and a half meters high.
They say that Saperda populnea is common .I don't know if it's normal somewhere, but this is my first capture.

17.11.2007 19:55, RippeR

It's clear.. and what exactly was the beetle sitting on-a leaf, a twig, a trunk??

Ruslan, it seems that both specimens in the photo are Saperda (Anaerea) carcharias Linnaeus, 1758. Elizar has already mentioned the denticles on the top of the elytra. S. similis is less stocky, and the points on the elytra are also different. I don't remember anything to remember, but I'll check it at home today using the caller ID.
