picture: 1020767_small.jpgTurnip-Pieris rapae (Linnaeus, 1758). It is widely distributed in Eurasia, North America, and Australia. Departure to the lower Volga region in late April-early May. During the season, 2-3 generations develop. Prefers fields and floodplain meadows. The caterpillars feed on cruciferous and mignonette plants. The male butterfly has white wings, while the female has yellow wings.

The picture was taken in the Astrakhan region.
