I analyzed photos of ataliy 2011-2013 (then there were especially many checkers, but last year there were very few), taken where and usually (Lukhovitsk district of the Moscow Region), so there, in my inexperienced opinion, there were also "britomart-like"ones. I want to post these photos on the forum discussion. Although, perhaps, many people will consider this an empty occupation, because there are no genitals: I then did not catch b.h., but only photographed. But, in my opinion, with all the variability inherent in Mellicta, there are many strange ones, in my opinion. I mean not so much the color, but the "build" itself, the width of the wings, in the first place. Photos from 2011 to 2013, all in one place: boggy glade, Chernaya Square. Let them be Mellicta athalia for now

I can't blindly understand - is it all the same, or is it still someone who has crept in here?

If we omit the accuracy of the determination using well-known methods, then the underside is a typical anomaly.

Republic of Kalmykia, Justinsky district,! 0 km north of the settlement of Erdnievsky. 29.05.18.
I think that after all it is a male. Much larger than the Siberian ones.

A curious article was recently published in Zootaxa:

Russel P.J.C., Lukhtanov V.A. 2018. To which species should the name heynei Rühl, [1893] (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae) be referred? // Zootaxa. 4531 (1): 81 - 94.

I would be grateful for your help in determining the draughtsman
It was not possible to determine by the determinant of Morgun, Lvovsky, 2007.

Not Atalia, after all?
Does it count as 4 cloves at the top of the valva?

Valva-garp - all this, of course, is good!
I would like to see the butterflies themselves, as well as where and when they are caught.
Number six. If this is not the Caucasus, then Atalia.

I attach photos.
Yaroslavl region, the date of capture is unknown
And atalia should not have 2-3 denticles on the sole? In photo 6, there are 4 of them.

As for the cloves, be curious about the work.
And according to number 15, there is a suspicion of Aurelia, there the valvae do not work well, there the edeagus must be looked at, the hook at the end is characteristic.

No, what kind of Aurelia: the branches of gnatos are not the same (and the appearance imho is not very suitable). There should also be an atalia, but here I don't understand where the valva processes are, why they are not visible in the pictures at all? Torn off? smile.gif

You see, the same problem. There are no valva processes at all (both on the left and on the right)!
By external signs, I go to atalia, but something is wrong here...

It's hard to argue - they don't exist... smile.gif I don't know what could have happened. Maybe it's an aberrant. Or someone pecked him in the ass... smile.gif Or he mated unsuccessfully and left the appendages in his mate... :/

I think it's Atalia after all.
