Two very common tinnik trees in the Middle Urals. Either one or the other is certainly found along the shore of any reservoir and even just a forest or field puddle. I just didn't understand everyone's biotope preferences. The city seemed to have only riparius... And in the mountain taiga dark coniferous forest, cupreum was caught several times. Can someone figure it out?

By the way, is the second cupreus valid, or is the color an unreliable attribute?

E. cupreus is indeed more woody, more often found under the forest canopy (forest puddles, swamps, hollows, shaded riverbanks), and in open places prefers heavily overgrown and silted areas. And E. riparius in the forests I have never come across, but in open biotopes it clearly dominates, withstands strong anthropogenic pressure, salinity, etc. E. uliginosus came across on the edge of a large sedge swamp, and there were no bumps on the hummocks themselves, just along the edge, where mosses are one (but many) of the vegetation.
