Europeans have their own view on taxa and their synonymization. According to the latest list by Belousov, Kabak and co., there are 4 subspecies of Procechenochilus heydenianus (heydenianus, euxinus, prichodkoi, and dzhentui).
As far as I know, very often Europeans are reduced to synonyms for only a few copies, and this is clearly not enough for objectivity. And very often environmental features are not taken into account. Take for example Archiplectes kratkyi and A. felicitanus. Brezina reduced the latter to a subspecies of the former. Outwardly, they may be similar, but the bags do not stand next to each other, and they are very different environmentally. umnik.gif

The truth is always somewhere in the middle. Only Brezina is inclined to synonymize, and indeed without some consideration of genital analysis. Nevertheless, the Tarpaulin checklist is currently considered the most objective. The rest of the Europeans, on the contrary, only deliver porridge.
As for heydenianus, of course, this taxon needs to be studied in more detail.
In addition , the ~ icon on the Tarpaulin indicates a local form that differs from the main taxon by some minor parameters. But how much this form pulls on a subspecies... wink.gif The debate will continue indefinitely until solid arguments are put forward.

The bags are already blown out and are clearly distinguishable. I consider them to be good subspecies, but a number of populations with transitional features to the subspecies dzhentui are another matter, and I think there are a number of forms with transitions from prichodkoi to the nominative from Abago through hr. Pshekish to hr. B. Bambaki

New subspecies of Carabus (Cechenochilus) boeberi Adams, 1817
(Coleoptera: Carabidae) from the Abishira-Akhuba range in the Western Caucasus. It differs from other Caucasian representatives of the subgenus by its more elongated and distinctly curved distally mandibles with a basal tooth bent downwards, often having a two-apical shape and located closer to the base of the mandibles. In this respect, it resembles the Turkish Carabus (Cechenochilus) lazorum Belousov et Zamotajlov, 1999.

Carabus (Cechenochilus) boeberi glebi ssp. n.
1 male-holotype, the remaining 4 females-paratypes

Subspecies of protsehenes are a dark matter. I put on a public display bags of subspecies of heydenialis. The best subspecies is with hr. Jentu. But it was not possible to blow it out serially - the second male was very young - but the bag went, the" trunk " should basically be bent forward and down. This is more likely a defect of blowing or some other reason. An even bigger difference is in the structure of the agonporius. It is narrowly triangular in the subspecies dzentui and euxinus, and broad-triangular in the others.
