Feed those who eat. Do not feed - in the refrigerator and from time to time spray to drink water.

If they eat and grow, it means that they are a non-menopausal species, they can feed all winter, as far as possible. They grow slowly because they have nowhere to rush. Substrate - why? Plant them on a cereal bush, put the cereal in a cold place (near zero) and water it as needed. I keep it outside until minus five. In case of cold weather, you can transfer it to the refrigerator for a short time. In this case, I simply move them to an unheated room. But we have the south, frosts below five degrees do not last long, and cereals turn green all winter, but I do not know how to deal with cereals in the Belgorod region in winter.

And if you leave a plant with caterpillars on the balcony all winter, what will happen to the caterpillars? Maybe it's better to leave them on the balcony, do not move them anywhere!

Depends on the conditions on your balcony.

Yes, that's right, they didn't want to shoot live, so they had to press down a little. But, the category is called "Images of insects", not "Images of live insects", so everything is normal. And those who get drunk are alive...

I always thought that Diana the marigold flies on Sakhalin in the Kholmsky district. Recently found that it looks like a marigold bordered. On the picture in the book "Determinant of butterflies of Russia" ed. Avanta plus Astrel " on the underside of the lower wing at the very bottom is a spot with a double eye near the fringed one. My butterflies also have it, but there are three spots on the upper wing, like Lethe diana (Butler, 1866). Please help me figure it out.

Most likely all - Diana, after all, the protrusion on the rear wing is quite noticeable. The two types differ well in the straightened form, or when viewed while holding in your hands, from the photo in nature it is more difficult.

I finally found a fringed marigold bowl in a pile of deans in the background. The photo was taken near a mud volcano near Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on August 1, 2015. At the apex of the forewing, there are not 3 spots on the underside, but a whole series. Am I right? Strangely, in the book from Astrel, it is written that the fringed ones are often found, and the dians are often found. And it turns out the opposite. Only dians fly.

On Sakhalin, apparently, Diana is common, judging by the reports. I caught the usual L. marginalis in Primorye, and as far as I know, dians are rare or local there. In the background of the picture-well, it's possible... The number and size of their eyes varies in all of them, including in female males, and this is not a determining factor.

In marginalis, the shape of the wings is different, and the shade is different. When both of them were caught with an interval of many years, the eye already clearly distinguishes who is who. And in Primorye caught both species. On Sakhalin only dians, marginalis is absent.
