I cook my own, from the south of Ukraine, Anarta stigmosa, determined by NE Vol. 4 Hadeninae 1. And I get a strange picture. Males are Anarta stigmosa, females are Anarta sodae, which we shouldn't have. Who has ever encountered this? Where is the error, in my eyes, in low-quality photos of the gene. females or a mistake in the compilation of the book, changed the positions of females? confused.gif
Does anyone have another high-quality image of the female Anarta stigmosa gene? I'd like to see it. smile.gif
I myself did not cook them no.gif, but I will try to help with literature yes.gif(in PM).

Now I specially cooked a pair of my own, caught in one place at one time - a male stigmosa, a female-a cross between stigmosa and sodae. More like even sodae.
I don't think that stigmosa males fly everywhere exclusively in pairs with sodae females, apparently both you and I have stigmosa.

Thank you for your support, I had no doubt that only one species flies, the question is what. Since in the south of Ukraine all females are different from the above, although I have already seen that stigmosa can be such, the question remains? "it's not all clear. There may wink.gifbe another taxon that someone needs to compare the material, there are other minor differences (in females).

I'm not in favor of multiplying entities unnecessarily wink.gif
How much the scoop cooked (and not only) - most often there are smaller or larger differences from the drawings or photos given in the literature. From my own experience, I know that the same drug in the photo may differ slightly from itself, depending on how it is prepared and laid out. In addition, the appearance of the drug strongly depends on whether it is flattened with a cover glass or lies freely.

Some elements can't even be ruined with a cover glass. smile.gif
It probably is. We have a nominative subspecies, and in further west there is another subspecies, and it is not specified which subspecies the drugs are depicted in.

One of the interesting differences between the genus Cardepia and Anarta is the presence of an outgrowth on the head, for example, Cardepia hartigi, Cardepia irrisoria, Anarta trifolii and Anarta stigmosa.

Calocesrta melanopa (Thunberg, 1791) - This species was not collected for many years in Bulgaria, first specimen(s) were collected back in 1903 ! After that Mr. Julius Ganev has collected in the 80's another specimen in Pirin Mts.
My friend S. Beshkov told me he has collected the same species in the Alps in mid June, so we visit the high Rila Mts. ( 2600 -2800m. ) and we found 9-10 specimens ( 2 visits ) . Really difficult to catch it, very fast and when you see it it is already late smile.gif...on the very same place I have collected last year Syngrapha rilaecacuminum VARGA & RONKAY, 1982 .

I hope that photos of live Hadeninae will also come in handy. These images do not show everything you need, but there are no color changes or damage, which is almost inevitable for many collectible specimens.
For information on reliability: all images were identified by Alexey Matov. I don't post anything that he found questionable.

I would like to introduce you to my amateur research on three Tholera pitchforks.
All three species have overwintering eggs.
I saved the eggs with moss and napkins.Early warming in March and a sharp cold snap in April brought some difficulties. The caterpillars came out of the eggs in March and there is nothing to feed.I found a drain from the roof of an 8-storey building on the sunny side and there I collected the breaking grass of some kind of cereal that the caterpillars willingly began to eat.
I don't post full cycles because there are too many photos.
Abbreviated version
So let's go.

In the Tien Shan Mountains and the Scarlet Common butterfly, sometimes flying en masse. Further south, in the Pamirs, it is already becoming rare. This photo was taken in the vicinity of the Urumbash pass on the Ferghana Ridge.

Xyleninae, tribe Xylenini, subtribe Cosmiina. and here it's like Hadeninae.

Yes, in general, this is all now the Noctuinae tribes! tongue.gif

24.08.2016 13:07, Andrey Bezborodkin

Indeed, now the tribe is part of Noctuinae, previously Cosmia belonged to Xyleninae.

24.08.2016 15:25, Alexandr Zhakov

Andrey, I mean that this genus, Cosmia, does not belong in any way to the Hadeninae, in whatever status they are: subfamily or tribe. And as it seems to me not correct to the author http://molbiol.ru/forums/index.php?act=Att...=post&id=268048 this kind of post in this thread.
In general, all these are small things. smile.gif
