Hadena ?scythia
end of July 2009 Luhansk region

No.
We, in the Zaporozhye region, fly the same ones in July. So far, we have reached Hadena pumila.

02.12.2009 13:48, Сергей-Д

Djon:
why not? post your photos! I didn't find any information from Klyuchko Hadena pumila for Ukraine. someone from Noct.Europaea would scan the species ranges and photos in normal resolution.

02.12.2009 14:19, Alexandr Zhakov

Klyuchko doesn't have it, this is a new species for Ukraine, I also suffered with it for a long time, we have it from a number of points, in some places it is common. barko confirmed the definition. Information in the chat.
I post a few photos
of Hadena pumila (Staudinger, 1879) (the definition is erroneous, all butterflies belong to the species Hadena scythia)
Zaporozhye region, Melitopol district July, 2009.

Yeah, now I don't know what to think. Mine is grayer than yours.
What's my quote? barko, where are you?
By the way, did you cook them?

Color variations are possible due to different photography conditions and white balance.
I didn't cook my own, and I didn't find any images. I'll give you a few copies in a few days. barko.

What's my quote? barko, where are you?

I'm here, but I don't have the time to answer about it, and this particular case suggests just such an answer.

I identified Djon butterflies as pumilla, but did not specify that the species scythia Kluchko & Haker, Esperiana 5, was described for the east of Ukraine in 1996.Here is an article about this species from the catalog of scoops of Ukraine. Next, the question of your attitude to this. Do you believe in scythia? Write on the scythia label. There is a desire to figure it out on your own-great! Cook, compare. Pumilla is the most common Turkish species, it can be found easily for comparison. By the way, it is extremely variable.

Hadenes are an interesting but complex genus. 13 years have passed since the Hacker's revision. That's quite a lot. The criticism is getting louder. The need for a modern revision is obvious. We are currently working on Haden and will receive a good allowance in the foreseeable future.

To talk about the differences in the structure of the genitals of female Episema tersa and E. glaucina affected by okoem.

I did the dissections and got a consultation from the sovochnikov morphologists who know the subject well. The only visible and consistent difference between the females of these two species is some difference in size. The genitals of E. tersa are always somewhat larger and more massive. It takes practice and experience to make a sure determination. It is advisable to dissect the females in series, then the result will be more obvious.

By the way, the males have very good differences.

Help me decide.
South of Ukraine, last summer.
The exact label is currently on its way (a few days away).
Judging by the reference book scoop of Ukraine from Klyuchko, this is
Hadena persimilis
If you look at the German site Noctuidae, the opinion deviates in the direction
of Hadena drenovskii lapidea
But there is a bolder assumption that this is Hadena vulcanica
???
