Guys, offer!!!
I am young (at heart); -)
Financially well-off (I can pay both ways to both ends of the Earth).
There is even a net for 50 euros (bought on sale for 30). And I know how to wave it.
But not on foot. I have a very long mileage in Russia, bald tires, valve burned, etc.
I can light a campfire (boy Scout courses at a pioneer camp), keep up a conversation, set up a tent, and cook dinner.
Stab the moths with a syringe, then pin them all down and convert them.

And what to offer??? umnik.gif
What would you pay for a round trip??? Or buy your sachet for 40 oiro???
Or are you trying to be a traveling companion??? beer.gif

For the first time, I was faced with the need to conduct training camps alone. I have to collect riders in the Astrakhan region. Tell me, please, at what time is it better to go to this region to find vegetation and insects in their greatest bloom? Is it possible to organize in such a way as to cover most of the Astrakhan region, or at least all of its floristic areas, in a short period of time? Is such an enterprise finally safe?

1) Mid-May-June.
2) It is possible - if you use the vehicle at your disposal. Only, if you want to explore the fauna of this group in the Astrakhan region, then this is ... hmm... there will be very sketchy fees.
3) Be sure to arrange a business trip and celebrate in large settlements. Try to discuss with the heads of local administrations your Very Important Work and their ability to help you do it. Be especially careful, reserved and accurate in your behavior and speech in such villages as Yandyki, Sadovoe, Artesian, etc. - ask the local Russian-speaking population and they will explain.

Mid-May - June is a special time. First, most of the delta (in a broad sense, i.e. below Volgograd) is flooded with water, i.e. a significant part of the territory falls out of operation, and the most abundant in entomofauna. Secondly, when the water recedes, it is at this time that a wild number of mosquitoes and midges appear there, which greatly complicates life.
For many years of trips to those regions for spring and autumn fishing, there were no special conflicts with the local population, even if there was pure homeless people on the shore. It is more difficult, just in localities, especially in the lower reaches, where many poach and therefore treat visitors with suspicion. I encountered this in Biryuchy Spit, HSE, etc. places. And so, people like people, they love free drinks: -)

Greetings from Germany. No time to hang out on the Forum. In the summer to Mongolia, of course. There are no seats already.

Papaver, mikee, thank you so much!
As usual, there were even more questions. Since I have to cover the Middle and Lower Volga region for three years (with fairly limited funds), I will need to deal with Astrakhan at the beginning of this summer. The only transport available is probably a bicycle.
Therefore, it is probably more expedient to select the most important ones.. modal areas in the steppe, desert, floodplain, and delta regions of the region, where all the biotopes characteristic of these areas can be found in a limited area. Can one of the forum participants tell us where such sites are located? Or will he recommend local history literature?
Maybe it's enough to pay attention to the protected areas of the region (http://nature.astrobl.ru)?
And what about the flood? I would like to find the steppe not scorched, and work in the floodplain. At what time is the first green and the second green?

I apologize for intruding and digressing from the topic of the topic.

Well, with a bicycle, you won't hit much - the ends are big there. Most water is usually given in the period from the last week of April to the end of the first week of May. And sometimes they keep it until the middle or end of June. By the end of May, the steppe is already burning out.

No one is going to spend the next winter vacation + a week "on top" in South America? If yes, write to "soap".

Personally, in my opinion (personally in my opinion) - from the point of view of desert biotopes, the village is very good. Dosang. We were there last year for the May holidays, and we were satisfied (there is a small report on this trip on the forum). You can stay in the protivochumka.

The spring performance of the Kyrgyz opposition is already turning into an unkind tradition. Yesterday, April 6, 2010, another campaign of discontent of the opposition began in the cities of Talas and Naryn. The opposition made attempts to seize regional administration buildings in these cities, resulting in shootouts with civilian casualties. Attempts were made to seize the arsenals of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and a helicopter gunship in Talas. According to the Kyrgyz Government, an attempted coup was carried out. A number of special forces were taken hostage. Stones were brought by 4 KAMAZ trucks to the Talas City Administration building, and several minibuses brought molotov cocktails. The governor of Talas region was taken hostage. The crowd chose its own governor (2 times). 100 special forces arrived in Talas by plane, and about 100 special forces went to Talas by car. In addition, 5 helicopters were used to transfer additional forces to suppress the uprising. The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic has taken a position of non-reconciliation with the rebels. Negotiations for a peaceful end to the rebellion have come to nothing. The Talas administration building was recaptured and completely destroyed. The local population burned buses, cars, ambulances. We are talking about an organized armed mutiny, prepared in advance. On the morning of April 7, the crowd in the main square of Talas numbered more than 2,000 people. About an hour ago, a video was shown on Channel 5 of Kyrgyz Television, which shows that the Talas Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was subjected to 3 attempts to capture, as a result of which the attackers were opened fire to kill. The total number of victims so far has been 16 civilians and 9 law enforcement personnel; the total number of wounded is estimated at approximately 200 people.
Some opposition leaders have explicitly stated that this is an attempt to seize power in an organized manner. Starting today, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic proposed to introduce a state of emergency with a curfew from 22-00 to 6-00 in Chui, Talas and Naryn regions and Bishkek for a period of 1 month. The Talas region is generally calm, except for the city of Talas. The Naryn region is generally calm, except for the city of Naryn (an attempt to seize the Regional Administration). The main points of tension are now Talas and Naryn. Other regions of Kyrgyzstan are calm. In the city of Bishkek, an attempt was made to protest by the opposition, a crowd of about 200 people set fire to a bus near the Madina market, and then moved towards the central Ala-Too square. In general, the situation in the city is normal, the central streets of the city in the period from 12-00 to 15-00 were in traffic jams due to groups of people from 20 to 50 people each loitering on them. It was raining in the city-apparently, this was one of the restraining factors. The local population began mass purchases of salt, matches and candles.

Power must be earned. Things to do. Even in the east. It is not inherited. And I don't think that the local government is holy. Let them sort it out for themselves - I don't think that at least one butterfly will suffer during these showdowns. But if people end up a little happier-freer, that's fine. And until July, all this will clearly be resolved.

07.04.2010 17:17, Bad Den

The butterflies won't get hurt, but how will the tickets have to be handed in?

07.04.2010 17:36, Frantic

There is STILL a LOT of time before the trip. It is unlikely that there will be a prolonged war. Most likely, if the opposition wins, then there will be no problems with the trip anyway. If the current petty dictator wins, then everything can, of course, be tightened. But it is unlikely that the losses from handed over tickets will be large (not so long ago, we handed over Aeroflot tickets, lost some pennies).

07.04.2010 20:31, swerig

So from Bishkek to Southern Kazakhstan we will rush. We will not pass anything.

Has anyone ever been to Namibia, folks? How is it with the catch - you need to encrypt or everything is quiet?

In Namibia, fishing is the same as in South Africa (see recent Reports). But given the sparsely populated country, in the desert catch on health, only who?

19.04.2010 8:21, Frantic

Yes, I read the report, and I was in South Africa in 2003. But Namibia is a bit different. And not just because of the deserts. And so there are a lot of good animals living there-from black-heifers to magical horses.

20.04.2010 0:20, Proctos

I don't think a single manual harvest in the desert will cause any problems with rangers or owners of private pastures. But fishing on screens at night is fraught.

I'm going to Malaysia in July to go hunting. I decided to take a gasoline generator and DRL with me, and go deep into the tropics, and climb with a net in the afternoon. If you have any experience in Malaysia, please share how it is with the export at customs, this is the only thing that scares me. And so ready day and night on uncharted paths.

There will be no problems, as long as you do not take out the material with suitcases. All in the luggage. And on the ground, try to communicate as little as possible with the locals on the subject of entomology, because you will be offered "help". It would be a good idea to plan your routes in advance. But in general, not bad.

I'm going to the Caucasus.. Perhaps to Dagestan.. Who can tell you anything about this republic?

02.06.2010 11:32, Tomas.Adzkee

Here we go, friends. Please advise me..

Who can tell you anything about Dagestan?
As always, I want to kill the maximum number of birds with one stone. Such as: Beautiful places, delicious springs, rich entomofauna (goldfish, barbel, carabus), and preferably a convenient access from the Makhachkala highway.. These are my optional, but still, criteria.
And, although you can go around everything in 2 weeks, I would like to highlight the key points of the route where you can hang out for a few days and set traps..

In general, I do not expect detailed information on the entire territory, even small hints from personal experience, the experience of friends and acquaintances, or even literature will help.

Thank you in advance

In the spring, I went to Gubernia, tried to find YAFETKA, but no luck. I liked the place , found a lot of interesting things, such as a jellyfish. In mid-July I will go again ...

For this republic, the best news will tell you, even on the first, even on other channels. It (this republic) is constantly flashing there. Although it depends on which one... go there.

I've been to Talysh twice, the places are certainly cool, but it's better to go in May.
to london: in June, it is better to go further from Baku, because it is very hot and dry.

I was twice in Lenkoran(Khyrkan), the first time - from the beginning to May 20, 2009.The bite is so-so, all the same type, with the exception of Christofa and oddly enough hefty pear peacock eyes. The second time was in June 2010, and it was much more interesting, especially in the mountains beyond Gasmolyan. For 2011, I plan to visit Nakhichevan in June.Who wants one place vacant. In general, Azerbaijan is very expensive and problematic(especially with transport and food). If you need more information, please call me and I'll tell you.

There are three options for the next six months. The first option is After the upcoming Trade Fair in early October, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia(in the first two countries I have already been). The second Option is the Indonesian part of Kalimantan(Was only in West Irian). And finally, The Worst Option-Cameroon, Ethiopia, Congo (for Antimachus and Hercules).Any other options? ...
