Please share photos of Papilionoidea of Russia in order to refine the Modeling catalog to the catalog-determinant at least in part of the specified taxon / country.

you can see which types of illustrations are already available (most of them), and which photos are not yet available. Ideally, you need a spread and photos of all very different options (spring / summer form, male / female, top/bottom), not ideally-any photo of an un-illustrated type.
Photos can be uploaded via the link http://lepidoptera.ru/usercab/userupload (registration required on the site), about the use of photos on the site and copyrights: http://lepidoptera.ru/terms.

Learn more about the so-called directory identifier:

Amateurs often have a desire to determine the money at least approximately according to the signs that are understandable to amateurs (i.e., almost everyone who has completed at least seven years). Fans tease me about it.
I (and someone else) have a desire to sculpt samples of grandmothers according to various color characteristics.
In order to implement all this, it was decided to close up a pilot version for a limited number of species — we are taking only day-old Russian ones so far.

If you have any questions about the idea itself-ask here or on the Modeling site. And yes, we are all literate here, and we understand that it is necessary to cook, that the value of defining a teapot for science is nothing, etc., etc...

I found one error in the list. The site has photos of Proterebia afra on the Proterebia afra page, and at the same time the list includes Erebia afra described in the same year by the same person. They're probably the same species?

Ilya, thank you for the tip, the taxa are combined.

In the section Erannis jacobsoni there is a photo of Erannis golda

About Chiasmia pluviaria, it is better to consult with specialists. Apparently, all references to this species refer to Chiasmia hebesata:
http://www.jpmoth.org/Geometridae/Ennomina...a_hebesata.html
In the new lists, Ch. pluviaria is no longer listed.

Golda was moved.
I made a comment about hebesata on the view page for review by the curator.

Alexander, I do not agree with the first statement, I do not agree with its categorical nature, on this forum you tried to deal with these types for two years. And we didn't get any answers. Not enough of a bare statement, I apologize you gave two of your photos, I unfortunately do not know this type, but according to the analysis of what is on the web, I am inclined to jacobsoni. This definition was confirmed by T. Gordeeva, I don't want to say anything, but she defended herself on the moth of Buryatia, and worked specifically with these two species.

I fixed the second one. Added a view. I totally agree here.

Are you interested in photos of live butterflies taken in nature?

On my site The column on the right contains a list of species whose photos I have already processed. Almost all of them are from the Saratov region (there are also some from Borneo).

If you need something for the caller ID, please let us know smile.gif

Eugene, thank you. I looked briefly — there are photos of species that we do not have illustrated. I'll take a closer look later and send you a request for photos.

Alexander, I don't agree with the first statement

It is better to start by consulting E. A. Belyaev about Erannis. It will judge.

PS
It makes sense to check groups with disputed species for the structure of the genital apparatus and display a photo of the latter along with a photo of the processed specimen. In this case, any errors, inaccuracies, or disputes about this matter will be excluded. At the moment, there are photos, for example, from the genera Scopula or Eupithecia, which are not easy to identify even from the genitals. However, this approach is practically excluded when photographing a living specimen in nature, which means that the accuracy of the determination is always doubtful to one degree or another.
