34 already. The Lord is my witness - there has never been such a winter in our warm Barnaul. And what is happening in the Urals? Children did not go to school for 30 days. The horror! Global warming - mother of it

yes, the winter we have today in Siberia is extremely outlandish: three days of thaw to 0, then a week of frosts -30-40... and so on all winter! Honestly it's starting to get boring smile.gif

Today, a specimen of Archiearis notha was found in the southern suburbs of Budapest.
The male seems to be atypical (the front wings are almost without a pattern). Or did it just happen in the photo?

This evening, I set several traps 100 kilometers northeast of Budapest. I left them until tomorrow, and while I was installing them, I took some photos.
They were noticed...

Cool scoops and moths smile.gif
Was there anything interesting about the beetles?" smile.gif

I set up some traps tonight

Awesome!
What are the traps?

Yes, impressive!
I'm also very curious about the traps. As far as I understand - this is Life Type, and the butterflies are almost not frayed confused.gif

Oleg, can I get GPS coordinates from the collection point? I'll take a look at your places via googleearth.
The weather has also improved in Lithuania. I will also open the fishing season.

Hi!
And today a peacock's eye flew into my window (I'm still in Munich), I caught it with my hands and let it out. So I don't know if this is the opening of the season or what?
I really want to open it for real - to go somewhere. At the end of May, it will probably be southern Khakassia and Central Tuva. So on the steppes to drive tarpeya and beetles. At the beginning of June, apparently in Mikhaylovka for 2-4 days-this is a village on the border with Kazakhstan - there are very cool steppes, salt marshes and a wonderful friend-a master of pilaf, humor, etc
.!! If I manage to get out of work in mid-June , I'll go to Altai-Kosh-Agach. So the summer will pass.

To my regret, I didn't see many insects: a few orange yolks, a few satyrs, a large number of different webs. A lot of whiteflies, similar to our cabbage, but a little larger.
I put soil traps on vinegar, almost nothing came across. The main catch was in the evenings under the lanterns. I came across several Pachystus graecus morio, a lot of marble crunches, I identified them as Polyphylla olivieri (since I don't have a determinant or a list of insects from those places, I may be wrong. I would appreciate a more precise definition.)

Stanislav, I have to disagree with you. I've seen places where there are more butterflies. Maybe it's not the season? I didn't take any nets with me, but I was in many places in Rhodes and paid attention to insects.

I keep forgetting to ask, did you like the boxes?

Very simple. Every evening he made a tour of the street lamps in the territory of the seaside park and collected from the ground and sitting on the illuminated grass.

I haven't written it yet, but I'll be brief and banal.
First days of July, south of Lithuania. Caught at night near the border with Belarus, to the border zone only 200 m. You need a pass to be in this zone. At night there were "nashi", checked, documents are in order.
The fishing area is a former training ground in pine forests, very dry places with an abundance of Calluna vulgaris. The night is warm, about 130 species of macrolepidoptera butterflies arrived, a thousand moth flies. Mosquitoes and small midges were bitten "tightly". I enclose the photo report...
With respect to all of you - vitalbata (Vitaly). beer.gif

Just arrived from Montenegro. The coast is typical of the Mediterranean, the north of the country is mid-mountain with beech-pine forests and pine forests. All the rave reviews about the nature of Montenegro are absolutely true.
He caught almost exclusively beetles. Great abundance of barbels: pupuricenus, c. cerdo, c.scopoli, leptura, strangalia, monochamus, clites, etc. There were some Lucanidae (deer, among others), motley birds, various kuzki, crushers, rhinoceroses and dung beetles, a sea of bronzes. From the butterflies I saw pigeons, probably the Balkan melanargia, p. aegeria, various southern satyrs and nymphalids, swallowtails and podaliris. While all the fees are in complete disarray, and in general the impression of stupefaction from the local rickets has not yet passed - blame for the confusion.
It is quite surprising that I did not meet a single ground beetle in any area frown.gif
In general, there are two rather different areas on the coast: oak and overgrown forests and pine groves. A couple of photos for a snack smile.gif

Dear Nilson,
How legal is it to catch insects in Montenegro? Did you take permits and show them at customs? And as imported to the Russian Federation- "declared". It is clear that all this can not be bothered. But it would be nice, of course, to have a "legal" collection-just in case...

SW Bulgaria - 29.11.2010 - 04.12.2010 - very warm weather - up to 20 degrees during the day , my UW light traps and street lights full of moths here are some very interesting moths : Apochima flabellaria , every night I colelct from 2 to 4 on the street lamps , as well Asteroscopus syriaca . Near Levunovo village I have visited a small cave where I found one wintering Apopestes spectrum and many Hypena rostralis. Here some of the pics I made..

Apochima flabellaria in early December? eek.gif

06.12.2010 19:14, Victor Gashtarov

Well , yes Apochima flabellaria emerge in the autumn here in BG it overwinter... , my very first A.flabellaria was collected many years ago in the middle of December and that was my only late autumn species. Usually this species is really active during month of March. Usually that time we collect also females , they visit light very rarely..
This year was surprise to me to collect Apochima flabellaria so early - most of them I colelct on the wall of my country house ( in front of street lamp ) , the rest of them were collected on the fish shop lights .
As for Eranis ( A. ) pictured above - it is aurantiaria - it is ironic , but today I spoke with friend of mine - if he has Eranis from the Blathck - north Black sea coast is very simular to Krim peninsula.
Could you please , anyone send me the description of Eranis ( Agriopis ) budashkini ??? Thank you in advance !

So, still, in Bulgaria it is still summer, the temperature is approx. +20C and above almost every day, and the next peak of "summer" in this cheverg is planned, in the south of Bulgaria up to 20C. In the Crimea and in the south of Ukraine, up to 15C.

But after Friday it will be just a nightmare-the temperature of -10-15C (Cumin-25C) and below can cover the entire Crimea, Turkey, the South of Ukraine, there is nothing to say about the rest of Ukraine. So all those who still can not do without walking on the steppes, forests, we take advantage of the opportunity on Wednesday-Thursday smile.gif

Friday on Sev. wind up to 80 km/h from the north is possible on the coast of the World Cup. Rain passing through the snow, supercooled rain, thunderstorms. All this charm has a chance to fall on the heads of residents of the south of Ukraine this Friday.
Since I observe such processes, I think it will not be superfluous to write here.

Hi guys ,

Finally I open the season yesterday - sorely there was full pretty moon , so only 1 moth in my 2 UW traps.
But on the field , near poplar trees ( Populus alba ) I have collected the rare and local Archiearis puella[b] . It is known from only 2 localities in Bulgaria - probably can be found in another places .

In the vicinity of Budapest, archiaris are caught and spring has come in general.
...
The fly landed on the sticker, probably thought it was a flower.

This is Episyrphus balteatus, a marmalade hover-fly.narodn.), a female of our most common species, overwintered and, with hunger, - immediately on the sticker.

Dasycorsa modesta

Lepidoptera System → Geometridae → Dasycorsa → Dasycorsa modesta
Full name
Dasycorsa modesta Staudinger, 1879.
Distribution

Palearctic zoogeographic regions.
States and islands
Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey-European part, Yugoslavia.
The following authors worked
on the material: Peter Khramov. Description and signs: Peter Khramov.

How great that we are already being informed from Bulgaria about such a great spring catch!
- Is the gathering place there subtropical, or is the climate considered temperate?
Колко голяма е, че вече от България, ни се казва за такъв клас улов пролетта!
- А събиране на мястото, където имате субтропични, или дори климатът е умерен?
And I liked Ocnogyna parasita (Hubner, [1790]) - A shaggy bear very much! "but if it's not so rare , then I have an artistic and philistine taste."..

To the fishing report: it's getting very warm in our country. On the southern slope, I saw red ants and some other small ones, like Pharaoh ants, but black. A solitary bee found its death in a hot spring. This impression of seeing the first insects was very pleasing. There are no spring flowers yet. I vainly hoped to meet the first day butterfly.

First night we stay in small mountain village Vlahi , second night very close to the Greek border - Kalimanci village ( nice hills covered of evergreen Quercus coccifera ) - among most interesting ones were : Litophane ledereri , Spudaea pontica and Chemerina caliginearia ( as we have joke for the really rare insects - there are for motherf#kers wink.gif ) , as well we found the local Antocharis gruneri macedonica . In my village nothing really interesting , just 2 males of Saturnia spini ..
