A short report from Lithuania. Spring is still capricious here, sometimes warm, sometimes wet and cold. On March 28, we were about 50 km south of Kaunas, in a mixed forest. Not all forest roads are passable. In the evening until midnight around +10+8C. There is a lot of Conistra vaccinii on the bait made from wine and sugar, less Eupsilia transversa. They are also on the light (Philips ML250W lamp), also Lithophane hepatica, Lycia pomonaria, Orthosia populeti, Brachionycha nubeculosa, Apocheima pilosaria, Apocheima hispidaria, Alsophila aescularia, Achlya flavicornis.

Cod test,
Probably biting?

21 kg of cod, decent. If in the sense of biting?, then not really. They are caught at a depth of about 150m, while you pull it out, it weakens very much. But the catfish will bite a little, it will not seem like a mouthful of teeth.

Dear accomplices,
can you tell me which specific places in southern Europe it would be possible to go on a butterfly hunt and rest in the second half of June?
Proximity to the sea is desirable, it is necessary to have a natural landscape (forests, shrubs and meadows) and good biotopes, the absence of a large pile of hotels and parks on the coast.
Montenegro, Croatia, Turkey, Bulgaria...

On Saturday, I returned from another two-week mattress camp in Montenegro. I was on vacation with my family in the Petrovac area. In general, the impressions are positive, but the end of June, of course, is no longer the same: the late spring feast is over. The minimum of the "minimum" program was completed, i.e. I collected a series of Buprestis dalmatina and Potosia angustata, but the purpuricenuses were almost flying away (the droc and the main umbrella flowers had faded), large banals, like cerdus and cervus, were recaptured, even Capnodis cariosa, the most common Anthaxia passerini and most clitinas were almost not found. I was pleased with a couple of finds, such as dybka, Herophila trisitis and unexpectedly-Niphona picticornis, which seems to be nothing for recreational fishing. The situation is great with straight-winged birds and webs (I didn't collect them, but I did photograph them). Charax, which is funny, met once in the same place, on the same crossbar, as in 2007. A small report look below.

On Saturday, I returned from another two-week mattress camp in Montenegro.

Cool, I didn't know that there are stick insects in Montenegro.

03.07.2012 1:48, Igorvet

I returned from sunny Bulgaria. The town of Primorsko is 35 km south of Burgas. There is an oak forest on one side and a forest-steppe on the other. There is a plot of relatively untouched dunes near the sea. I had a great rest, even ran for insects. Despite all inclusive, I managed to lose weight, and I swam in the sea as much as three times (in a week). From insects, the oak complex is classically represented : cervus, zedro, marumba quercus, catocala promissa and further down the list. I think I've caught a few ibericuses, but I haven't checked them out yet. I picked up some purpuristsenuses. I found the remnants of Dorcash. I set traps for carabuses-three types - two in the mass-convexus and montivagus, and one more-Viktor piece-by-piece and only in one line of traps. All sorts of crunches and crunches. In general, the beetles are not sad ( as they are now in Nepal), although I did not catch any mega-rare items. True, I got an oak barbel 55 mm. From butterflies - a little satyrchikov, a little colias, polychrome.I saw mourning girls, but alas, I couldn't catch them! Overall, the impression is very positive. Although it is not clear why such a nice river was called the Devil's? I didn't get a clear answer from the locals.

What plant are they photographed on?

On the thistle.

Bulgaria continued. Something was clarified with the species composition: from catocal, in addition to promissa, sponsa and nymphagoga were caught, all on wine traps. The dustpan still got a little bit. From the carabus Archicarabus montivagus, Archicarabus victor, and the local subspecies C. convexus?. From lucanus-s not one cervus-a, all ibericus-s. Some of the mattresses are exposed. So all is well! Such animals as circe, podalirium, swallowtail, pandora, etc. did not catch. Photos are attached.

Oh, sorry! Apotomopterus-s are not from Bulgaria shuffle.gif, but from China. They accidentally got there.

I offer everyone a brief report on my trip to Italy (Piemont, Vall Sessera h-1500) was from 28-30 June.
Arrived at 17 00 put up a tent and immediately a few soil traps, the weather was hot all days up to 40 degrees.
I'm only interested in Beetles, so I didn't pay much attention to butterflies, a lot of Satyrs ( Erebia )
and various Mother-of-Pearl flew.
In the evening, many unexpected Silkworms flew, but it was not possible to see the view.
For beetles, in principle, not bad, because of the heat there was little Carabus, for barbels 4 species massively but nothing interesting.
I came across a little Cychrus italicus and for the first time Cychrus angustatus
In general, the trip was a success, very beautiful places.
Next year I plan to go to Perinei from the Spanish side.
From Carabus, what I found.
Carabus monticolla ssp. bielensis ( megasomus )
Carabus depresus ssp. depresus
Carabus glabratus ssp. latior

Will there be any landscape photos? Reports from Piedmont don't come every day.
