Under the bark?

Under rotten dead wood, "grown" in the moss.

Hello everyone Finally, a normal Internet connection, and I'm with you!
I decided to write my report about the summer, more precisely about entomology 2010 on the Putorana plateau, actually I was almost never on the plateau, I was on its western spurs, on the Haraelah ridge(Spruce Stone). The summer turned out to be hot, but not for me, I had 2 weeks of heat in 2 months, but they were still quite successful!
14.06 Alykel Tu 204 airport is landing, making the last flaps of its wings (in the truest sense of the word), the ground is not visible, fog, and suddenly asphalt appears sharply under the wing 10 meters away! Sit down! Taxi service! Norilsk! Slaughtered landscapes! Minibus service! Talnah! Me, backpack and snow! Hotel 3000 per day per person, I refuse to rent an apartment 1500 for a day, I'm awesome, and it's still snowing! It's like unas in the beginning of April! I ate, slept, wait all day for the owner (Anton is his name), comes in the evening there is a dialogue.
"where to now?"
- to the mountains, to the tent(and the snow and rain are in full swing)
-?????????????????? and what have we forgotten
- he came to catch butterflies...
- ?????????????????? and from where???
- from Penza
- well, you give, live for free here until the weather gets better, I'm renting this apartment for 15000-17000 a month, I'll rent it to you for 8000 if you want…
A few days (until 24) there is no weather, I watch the World Cup, eat well, probably everything, 24 walked with 70% clouds and no butterflies, and no other insects, and nothing at all ... 25 clear and even warm, ran, the ascents are difficult and steep everywhere, there is nothing, I sit I smoke in the valley, I understand the essence of things, the immensity of phenomena, why did a fool come here??? Next to the snow tongue on the slope, footprints, I approach, bearish big, and next to the same small, fresh, because the snow melts intensively, and these are clear, two hours passed before me, the mood tends to zero! There are no butterflies, bears, everything is expensive, one, there is no communication, by the evening there are clouds, the weather is getting worse, I call Anton in the evening.
"do you want a beer?"
"you can.
Under beer and vodka we get acquainted, he comes from Mordovia, a Mordvin (and I'm also a Mordvin), we immediately find a common language, a solid positive in communication, well, at least something good!
Weather until July 6 rain. 6 after lunch, the sky suddenly opened, the sun, and the thermometer column went confidently up, I'm already on the slope, collidits, naina, swallowtails, I notice something dark-Rossi, in the evening I go down the scree melissa one, second, third ... eight! The next day at 8 am on the scree, melissa, melissa, Melissa 25 caught, late in the evening I rest, my legs hurt, hungry but happy! And then diza, dabanensis, tyche, freya, angarensis, PHOEBUS, HAPPY!!!
July 8 cloudy, 9 cloudy, I'm sitting not far from the mine, something black is taking off, catching fasciata!!! At 17: 00, the sky clears up and it's off: clouds of disa, melissa, naina, fasciata, a little mother-of-pearl, tyche, jutta, until 23:00 I catch like a madman, stumbling through cables, wires, drills, etc. piles of junk, everything that after the geological exploration of the Russians on earth poostavalsya!!! Everything was flying at the bottom near the mine, 50 meters above the butterflies are isolated!!!
10 at 7 am on the spot, everything is flying I have euphoria!!! From 11:00 to 18:00 it is cloudy, I fly only sporadically, from interesting things only a man and a woman rode a motorcycle, skis in their hands, I saw them 3-4 more times with skis, I still don't understand why skis, even in the Arctic at+30, maybe entomologists are not given to understand this? It's a wild evening again!
11 super weather all day, left 14 km from Talnakh, clouds of butterflies, even more mosquitoes, I catch klosiana polaris, male, in 5 minutes female! Next up is the female Eneis bora! And laponika the bear!!! 290 fresh butterflies per day!!! And Phoebe, Hyperborea and Hecla are all gone, bad…
12 rain, 13 rain, 14 rain, 15 heat butterflies are the same, 16 rain, 17 rain, 18 rain, 19 rain, 20 before lunch rain after lunch heat and butterflies but there was not enough time to go far but still caught! 21 heat in the morning I get in a taxi and go to the mines, I decided to go away that day. I went to the nearest small rock formation, where I was fishing for polaris, and I see something white floating up and down. A few jumps and I'm on the steeper, swing, fly up tarmashkami braking right side on the rocks and in the net PHOEBUS, happiness!!! Immediately the second one, but not so effectively, just flew at me, smoothly scooped it up with a net! On the distant rocks there are 15 more on this day and all males, there are no females, 5-6 laponikas still flew very high, but alas I did not catch them…
22 rain, before departure 4 days, I could not forgive myself for flying home without a female Phoebus, so I get in a taxi and go to Norilsk I change my ticket for August 14, come what may! On the same day, I urgently had to vacate the apartment in the evening, I moved to Anton in a three-room apartment, his friend and several girlfriends came and a fun holiday began for 4 days, I met many Talnakh residents these days, and in the morning his brother George flew in from Saransk, so I didn't have to be bored on rainy days!!! Meanwhile, the rains continued until August 1, and then from August 2 to 5. On the 1st, it was clearly warm but not hot, we flew from novy Yenisiensis, Eugene, Boloria Alaskensis, Tritonia, Paloena, although only a few males caught Phoebus! From 5 to 13 it is clear but cool, I catch on the rolling pins of the south side, the wind was north and very cold, although it did not interfere with mosquitoes!!! They became an unbearable number and they went berserk in the tundra, midges began to appear! And also Phoebe's females!!! I've caught a lot of them these days!!! There were 3 types of pigeons, but I have an interest in them on the stock on the slope. 13 finally caught 2 pairs of Hyperborea, and unfortunately I realized that massively zhelushki all fly here next year, good or bad, I don't know, at least there is a reason to go there for the next year!!! I looked at the tundra, Talnakh and Khraelakh mountains in the evening, went down to the mine, and went to pack my things, in the morning I left and said goodbye to new friends.
Alykel: things get X-rayed and a dialogue starts:
- you have stones in your backpack
-yes, quartz(there really was still chalcopyrite there)
- so, things for inspection and call the police
Dialogue konrolershi with the police:
"I have rocks in my backpack
- so what?"
- well, we need to look through
-well, look through, and I have nothing to do with it-and the valiant law enforcement officer leaves.
Dialog with me:
- We open the backpack
-please look at least to the bottom all
I open and top as always all the most "clean" hiking clothes, her interest immediately passes and I safely go to the registration. Tu-154, 4 hours and I'm in Moscow.
That's all there is to it! If you are interested in the details of some points, please write them down and I will tell you more.IMG_2472.jpg

since we're also talking about UFOs here, here's some more mysticism:
In Mondy last year in the city of Hulugaisha, we lived with my grandfather, who usually all stay, 4 days there was a blizzard, a lot of snow fell, sometimes waist-deep, and then sharply clear and very hot weather, I went to see the plateau that is on the left, the climb there is very uncomfortable, steep rocky slope, although stones you can't see all the moss is overgrown, the shrub is powerful. I found these footprints at the top, melted, although most likely the foot was bare. I was confused by the fact that everyone goes to the mountains through my grandfather, the road passes there, and there is tea to drink or warm up, no one has passed there these days, and no one goes there in a strong snowstorm, it ended at 4 pm in the afternoon, and in the morning it was hot and I was there, hunters and collectors there is nothing to do with heather(and they move on horses), only entomologists are interested there, and probably YATTY, this is my guess...

Oh, these TRIFIZAS!

This is from Yu. P. Korshunov's book " Mace-Moustaches of Northern Asia." And you probably determined by the book of Tuzov.

In my opinion, everything looks something like this. If not, please correct it.
[attachmentid()=100507] [attachmentid()=100509]

T. albovenosa Xv. 1885 (= dohrnii Zell.) - Kodar (northern Chita region)

T. glacialis B.-H. 1912 (=nervosa Motsch.) - grasshoppers in the forest-steppe near Krasnoyarsk. The same ones fly on V. Sayan (Mondy). So you most likely have T. glacialis (= nervosa).

Victor, at the expense of E. kindermanni, I must disappoint you. This is E. theano. Did you catch them on the way to Ulagan, by any chance?"

I identified diaries from the book Chikolovets Yakovlev Kosterin "Butterflies of Altai, Sayan and Tuva" - hence dohrnii, it is there just from Ukok and is given, the southern slope of Maitobe, where I caught them.
You may be right about Teana and kindermanni, but I caught teana in ocd. Ulagan, it is slightly larger and the stripes on the wings are much brighter. The ones I've identified as kindermanni are collected on Ukok. Please explain to me what attributes you use when defining them, and I'll check them on other instances. Here are a few more, the upper right one is spread out from the bottom up.

I got confused myself and confused you. I'll try to figure it out again.
I determined by Korshunov. There are five similar species in Altai: E. kefersteini, E. kindermanni, E. theano, E. stubendodorfii et E. brimo (=maurisius). Tuzov still has them.
1. Left upper E. kefersteini. It is more similar to E. kindermanni, but the latter does not have points on the hind wing band (yours does). I found it at Osipov's. Although not very clear, but clearly.
http://rusinsects.com/satyrid/s-e-kefe.htm
http://rusinsects.com/satyrid/s-e-kind.htm

2. The lower left one appears to be E. stubendodorfii. E. theano is not in your pictures. A characteristic feature of E. theano is:
a) the three upper red spots on the forewings
differ sharply in length from those lying below,
c) the red spot in the central cell of the forewing is divided into three parts by two black rays.

[attachmentid()=100594]

And more:

http://rusinsects.com/satyrid/s-e-thea.htm
http://rusinsects.com/satyrid/s-e-maur.htm
Osipov does not have E. stubendodorfii.

3. The two right ones are the same, most likely E. stubendodorfii. I'd like to see the top one from the top. The differences between E. stubendodorfii and E. brimo (=maurisius) are very vague. Here is an excerpt from the determinant of Yu. P. Korshunov:

this is the delirium of molecular scientists smile.gif. Triphysa is not a synonym for Coenonympha-see genitalia.

And it's even easier to just look at the wings - this is the same external sign as the genitals.

However, the beetle (and both mitochondrial and nuclear genes were tested) showed that phryne and oedippus (type species Coenonympha) are closer to each other than to the rest of the traditional haylofts.

There is an article, but it doesn't do any good. You need to look at a set of signs, not just one. For some gentlemen, a smile has become a fetish. However, at the level above the specific one, it still fails more often than reliable results. For any phylogenetic conclusions, generalizations and identification of patterns for the entire animal kingdom are first necessary. and the gentlemen of molecular science have pulled a little bit from several groups and consider themselves to be the only right-wing ones. no, guys, work hard first, accumulate megatons of material, systematize, identify patterns - only then you will have faith. In the meantime, this is just a way to earn "serious" specialist points for many car washes. so forgive me, retrograde, but coenonympha is coenonympha, triphysa is triphysa, and liela is from a different subfamily altogether.

Such generalizations were made BEFORE them. Not all of them were accepted. In order for genes and chromosomes to speak, you need to collect a lot of factual material. And the conversation will be basically the same as it is now without them. And if there is no difference - why pay more, as in that ad?

Gentlemen, if you think that I am an enemy of the molecular approach , you are mistaken. I am a supporter of the integrated approach, it is the only correct one. you need to take into account ALL the accumulated information, and not just a small part of it. All without exception-life is not just about nucleotides.

03.11.2010 15:56, bora

Such generalizations were made BEFORE them. Not all of them were accepted.

In other words, do you think that the molecular-genetic arguments in favor of these generalizations are not correct?

About the fact that "we discovered" it was not discussed. You have raised the question of the inadequacy of using molecular genetic methods in solving phylogenetic issues at the level above the species level.

I mean, defending the obvious means firing a cannon at sparrows. and whether there was a failure-I will not undertake to judge in this case, since there is no actual material in the article.

However, at the level above the specific one, it still fails more often than reliable results. For any phylogenetic conclusions, generalizations and identification of patterns for the entire animal kingdom are first necessary.

Here you also need to understand that any level higher than the specific one (and that's a stretch) has nothing to do with reality. All these categories are made up by man for his own convenience.

Molecular science-it is not for pseudoscience of taxonomy, it is for identifying phylogenetic relationships.
