On January 2, I went to the village. There, at a temperature of -20 degrees in the snow, I found this insect.

Maybe someone knows.

It looks like the larva of a beetle from sem. Cantharidae

The most interesting thing is that on December 31, it was minus half a degree and the sun, I found a similar larva in the snow in the Smolny region (on the southern border with the Moscow region). This is the larva of a beetle, you need to strain and think about what family?
Well, while the image was loading, two responses about the family were received. Thank you. smile.gif

Good day everyone!

Today in the Altai Territory about + 6. The first insects appeared. I caught the first butterfly - Aglais urticae and immediately went to spread it out. Unfortunately, when I saw her, there was nothing to photograph.

The season in the Altai Territory has opened! smile.gif

Good afternoon!!!

Today I decided to take a walk in the suburbs of Barnaul. It was +4, the snow is still melting and melting. There were very few insects, practically none.

And the Moscow region is also with you. Well, nothing: there will still be a holiday on our street.

There are so many of us! And there is a limit to everything - so nature is dissatisfied...
I don't know about anyone, but I got some beetles for soaking today - I'll do it in good weather! cool.gif

Roman, thank you very much for your reports. Personally, I really liked it!

My report is certainly not Columbia, but Siberia, but I think it will still be interesting to anyone.

Now it is very warm in the Altai, which, for example, pleases me.
Today it was +15. I decided to take another walk around the suburbs of Barnaul. This time it was more successful. Most of the insects I saw today were swimmers. They swam in thawed pools. There were also many spiders. They were like ants constantly running around under my feet. Speaking of ants, while walking around the suburbs, I found 2 active anthills. As I was about to leave, I suddenly saw Nymphalis xanthomelas, so I chased it, photographed it, but didn't catch it. Then I saw the mating game of two small mother-of-pearl birds, but in this case I did not manage to take a picture or catch them.

Today I decided to go "open the season", at the same time test a new camera smile.gif
I went to the forest near the city. Spring came to us suddenly. Literally in 3-4 days all the snow melted! Even in the forest, it is almost gone, only on the shady side of the stands. The air temperature was about +7, but the wind was quite strong and cold. Nevertheless, I found 4 specimens of N. xanthomelas and one Archiearis parthenias. I noticed movement in the puddle - it turned out that the frog had already thawed and was swimming in the icy water! Well, so run all sorts of spiders, ants, small flies fly. so far, that's all... Yes, I also collected a bear caterpillar (most likely Ph. fuliginosa) and found an empty shell of a lemongrass pupa.

Tonight for the first time I went fishing without light sources - only on fruit baits! I am happy with the result - what I went for (Orbona fragariae scoop) caught in the amount of 4 pcs! In addition, a myriad of A. flavicornis, C. vaccinii flew, took one X. vetusta and X. exsoleta, also not on lures, but in flight in the light of a flashlight caught 3 pcs. Semioscopsis avellanella.

Separately, I am glad that my generator started up from poltychka, even though I didn't preserve it for the winter-I didn't even drain the gasoline. 4,5 thousand rubles, no service - and plows like new wink.gif~

but my kipor has completely lost something. although it was properly preserved and kept warm. It seems to work, but the output voltage disappears about once every five minutes for one second, after which everything is fine again. But while the DRL flares up, you're already starting to lose your temper )) I had to buy a new generator, and then wait for this one to make already no time..
By catch:
we're just having an explosion in butterfly numbers this spring!
During the night of April 14-15, at least two hundred Eriogaster lanestris were taken for two (all males, females have not yet flown apparently), 50 pairs of fresh Endromis versicolora (I have never caught females in such quantities before), many different autumn-spring species of scoops: C. vaccinii, E. transversa, X. vetusta, X. exsoleta, O. fragariae, B. nubeculosa, O. incerta, Lithophane socia, etc., especially pleased with the capture of two excellent specimens of Dasypolia templi and two Perigrapha circumducta! Of the geometrids in the A. parthenias mass during the day, only a few Phigalia djakonovi were found at night. Micra also flies well - several species of Depressariidae (Semioscopsis, Agonopterix), Acleris, and small moths. So we have spring in full swing. I don't remember such a productive spring for butterflies...

Kayak for lanestris and endromis. If they take so many of them. Slava, why do you need a HUNDRED males?

Yesterday (the weather was summer) we got out with our daughter to the zoo. Since the decision (to see how "it" is there) was made spontaneously (on the street), then, accordingly, we went without "equipment" (no net, no stain...).
I had to catch it with my hands (of course, they didn't catch it), put it almost literally in my pocket.
We had lunch in the same place (in the zoo) in a cafe. Over the soup, the daughter "philosophically" recommended: "Dad, hold "them", please, tighter. If 'they' here scatter on the floor, we'll be kicked out; and I want to 'finish' my lunch properly."
Lemongrass was och. a lot.
And today it's snowing again…
