09.08.2011 22:34, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9908

These ones are all Melitaea didyma.

09.08.2011 22:34, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9898

That is Melitaea didyma.

09.08.2011 22:27, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9900

Seems to be Melitaea didyma, but can just be similar to. I'll check it out.

09.08.2011 21:54, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9893

Think, that one is Coenonympha thyrsis.

09.08.2011 21:52, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9880

Seems like Coenonympha thyrsis. Would be better to have more different images of this species from this very place.

09.08.2011 21:32, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9891

06.08.2011 15:30, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9197

Vasily, be brave, there can be only Pieris brassicae. :) Male or female? Can't say with this angle. :(

06.08.2011 13:57, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9849

Very common regalis. They can look rather different depending on color intensity.

06.08.2011 13:53, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #8931

Not Pyralis regalis but Hypsopygia costalis.

06.08.2011 12:47, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9845

Synev and www.faunaeur.org in Russia determine this one like Pontia edusa. I'll add this to the catalog.

06.08.2011 12:45, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9846

According to Synev and www.faunaeur.org, in Russia it's Pontia edusa. There are some different opinions about that, but we decided to reference these sources.

06.08.2011 2:31, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9845

This one is not Anthocharis cardamines but Pontia edusa (Fabricius, 1777).

06.08.2011 2:30, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9846

Mistake, this is Pontia edusa (Fabricius, 1777).

04.08.2011 17:43, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9838

Looks rather like Arenostola phragmitidis, but symmetrical dark spots in the center of the wing make it questionable. Can be defects though, so size is interesting also.

04.08.2011 15:16, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9835

"Imago" should be changed to "caterpillar". #9834 shot too. :)

04.08.2011 0:00, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9835

02.08.2011 13:04, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on Hyles lineata

Without specifying the place of photographing, the question arises as Hyles livornica not it?

01.08.2011 11:15, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #8100

Eilema griseolum (Hübner, [1803]) (nominative subspecies, only one on the continent)? Eilema vetustum (Walker, 1854)?, Eilema coreanum (Leech, [1889] 1888)?, Eilema digna Ignatyev et Witt, 2007? Repeat my question: to what of these three?

31.07.2011 20:44, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #8100

To what species of three?

31.07.2011 19:13, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #8100

In Primorye region these three species of griseolum group are hardly identified by appearance. But surely by genitalia: http://fen.nsu.ru/~vvdubat/Lithosiinae/Lithosiinaelist.html.

31.07.2011 10:20, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #9513

01.07.2011 23:49, Alexandr Zhakov: comment on photo #8423

It belonged previously to Mesapamea genus, but the species is not databased. Should be added.
