Assume, Evgeny might be right. I looked at http://www.euroleps.ch/seiten/s_art.php?art=pier_melete, so males happen to be like that. But it's hard to say for sure with no underside, albeit the small particulars still are in favor of Pieris.
Cucullia (Cucullia) pustulata fraterna, Butler, 1878. Petr, as there is no this species databased, it might have been moved to fraterna first and got the database corrected then. :)
Cucullia (Cucullia) pustulata fraterna, Butler, 1878, and I'm just talking of the very species name which Yury Semeykin mentioned.
Now there is no such species, Cucullia fraterna, this is an eastern Cucullia pustulata subspecies, the full name is Cucullia (Cucullia) pustulata fraterna, Butler, 1878. References: Fibiger B., Ronkay L., Yela J. L., Zilli A. 2010. Rivulinae — Phytometrinae, and Micronoctuidae, including Supplement to Noctuidae Europaeae, vols 1-11 / Ibid. Vol. 12. 451 р. Witt Catalogue: Vol. 2: Cuculliinae ...
Fool, there are different endings in various references, Spilarctia seriatopunctatum, the species is created already.
Spilarctia seriatopunctata, that's an ending by Synev, there are different endings in various references. :(
Leave it like this. That's female so even boiled it will be hard to identify if Sergey caught only one. 70% sure that's identified right.
There are only four species of this Eupista genus in Ukraine and ornatipennella solely is rather widespread. Most probably, this is that species not yet mentioned in references at Odessa region though. :) They don't differ but with genitalia.
If look at the serious website jpmoth.or, possible to say this is Spirama helicina (Hubner, 1831), http://www.jpmoth.org/~dmoth/80_Noctuidae/09Catocalinae/framepage%20catocalinae2.htm, another retorta: http://www.jpmoth.org/~dmoth/80_Noctuidae/09Catocalinae/framepage%20catocalinae2.htm.
No, I'd better move to "uncertain" that one which Vlad identified for Andrey, it looks questionably too dark. But it's just my suggestion. :)
The color of hind wings can vary much from very light to dark grey, and females are colored even darker. I didn't boil females. leuconota is not a synonym to latesco, just before these moths from Ukraine were named such. Now the puzzling thig is what's actually in Ukraine? latesco and/or trisignata. :)
